so whats the ORION going to have... if ford is going to a V6 wouldn't this be the best bet??? are they keeping the xr6t when it's released???

that aside seems like a awsome idea. wanted to twin turbo my H6 liberty but it would have been so expensive.... only reason I didn't look into it.

Is there anyway to de-stroke the 4lt to make it rev harder?

That would be cool, a TT 4lt block spinning to 9000+rpm.

9K might be a little high but with a forged crank I recon 8K should be doable! the LS V8 guys rev past that and they have longer strokes (I think).

back to the twin turbo, what hosuings are the standard turbos?? I have seen alot of the HIGH BHP skylines are using GT3540s. might be worth looking at these turbos. if the A/Rs are similar then the stock turbos might work! and being internally gated would help with packaging. also have a look at Tial (I think) stainless steel housings. they are supposed to be smaller, lighter, keeep the heat better, spool faster and come with 3inch V-Band conections going both in and out the hotside of the trubo!!

also what size do people go for when using a BIG single?? GT42/45/47???????

I think a pair of GT35rs would work fantastic on the 4ltr! fast response with a SH!T load of top end cappability.

Cheers Chris.

bcl's car spins up to 7000 easily, I seriously doubt you'd get them much quicker than that.

I don't think you would need to, or really want to, if you destroke the 4.0L you'll have a big heavy engine with no torque at all off boost, and that's the beauty of these engines!

The more you go over 6000rpm the more the stress on internals (and just about the whole car).

If you wanted say 1500hp then destroking more be far more sensible. Typically you make big power through big revs.

With the 4L motor current configuration, at 7500 revs the pistons are travelling at 24.8 metres/sec, putting enormous stress on rods.

Anyway, that's beside the point; this thread was not about 1000+ hp.

Wasn't BCL's problems with raising the engine RPM it stuffed the gearbox?

No it was running the car in 5th gear on the dyno. Mal Wood predicted it would cause problems; 4th gear is far stronger.

The problem is that most of our tuners dynos can't cope with big torque.

so as an update, I am currently trying to organise my own business, so the TT project is going to have to wait until that is up and running, but I can guarantee - IT WILL HAPPEN!!!
