the 500rpm actually makes alot of difference, when you consider that its full boost at 3500, these start spooling under that, so it makes for a much more usable range, again I know singles are good these days, but I don't think F6 Rapids or Brians car make much boost below 4000rpm, and from memory Brians rev limit is up to 7500.

Thanks for the input guys :greyscare:

My rule of thumb is that a good responsive street turbo will make .5 bar by 2500 revs, 1 bar by 3000 revs and 1.5 bar by 3500 revs. I’d expect that that sort of response would run out of puff by 5000-5500 revs.

However, try that in an XR6 turbo with say 350rwkw at that point (3500 revs) and you will not be able to control the car on the street…. No chance

Before my accident I had 250rwk at 3500 revs, and 500rwkw at 4250 revs, making around 1.7 bar at those revs. In the words, the big single turbo can hit like a sledgehammer from 3500 to 4500 revs. (ref the graph at http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...6508&st=484 )That was totally undrivable and crazy. That was with the eboost, which has now been removed, and the car detuned at 4000 revs, and in addition going back to a stock 3.73 diff, so it’s far more streetable.

The real challenge is not making the power; that is the easy part. I believe it is in the matching of your suspension and tyres with the boost tuning. That is, have very responsive turbos to bring boost on early, not use maximum boost through the say 3300 to 4000 rev range, then bring boost up from there. You could then achieve a very enjoyable and streetable quick car.

Again, thanks for the input Brian, experience is always welcome!

What are your thoughts on the turbo selection?

I don't need to make massive power out of this car, but it will have (I would assume) around 450rwkw at least, so some descretion will be required to drive on the street, also, we can load up individual tunes for different situations, possibly an everyday tune for the street with the turbos running minimal boost, possibly 10psi depending on the actuator. Then for say a dyno event/bragging rights we can turn the wick up and see what happens...

thanks mate, I'm realling wanting it to happen too, I have to get Japan out of the way first, and focus on work some more to make the dollars happen so I'm not eating two minute noodles while I buy parts! Labour is almost covered, so there isn't much to stop me going ahead with it!
