Hey Guys only just stumbled across this post.

Im actually in the process of putting twin turbo on my BA xr6 ute. Been working on the conversion for the last 2 months.

There is plenty of argument on whether a single or twin turbo setup is better, but at the end of the day it all comes down to trial and error. If no one has done twin turbo on a 4L inline 6 then how can we argue that a single turbo is better or worse.

Im making the conversion simply for the fact that its not often you see an xr with an engine bay with twin turbo.

Thanks for the comments guys, didnt think they would be good on this site. spoke with proFlow they said the pacemaker extractors are thin wall and wont hold up to the heat or weight of the turbo ? I call bullsh*t on this my self they said standard headers would be better? they recon they were going to do the turbo kit the way I wanted to first go around but to be more like everyone else they went for a more normal setup in the engine bay. Tuning vcm suite have let me down and wont support 08 model alloytecs for a while to come so im looking into after market ecu piggy back, can any one recomend a good ecu piggy back that would suit boosted aplications

The reason why you cant use your pacemakers is because they are mild steel. the heat and pressure generated beteen the engine and the turbo would melt the headers faster than you can say holy sh*t.

Iv just finished makin up a set of header pipes for a twin turbo conversion on my xr6 and its all been made out of 5mm thick steam pipe.

The reason they say your stock headers will work better is because they are cast iron, and can handle the heat and pressure.

The only other way to go is to get a set of headers made out of stainless and are ceramic coated.

But if your making a kit that will last the best option is the steam pipe.

Mate I completely agree with you, if someone has the time and some spare $ why not give it a go. If you can do majority of work yourself it shouldn't cost much either. Good on ya for giving it a crack, can't wait to see the results.

Would love to see a BMW 335 style sequential setup on the 4l engine, I recon it would be an animal from just above idle all the way to 6G rpm.

What turbos are you using?

What turbos are you using?

Cheers mate, its good to finally talk with someone who supports my idea.

I got two t04e turbos, internally gated at 8psi, but im going to the trouble of pulling the engine out and doin forged pistons and h-beam rods.

My engine is a N/A ba MK1 so im leaving the compression higher than the standard turbo, say around 9.1:1, possibly less. It started with 9.8:1 but with concave pistons should drop the comp down to a good ratio to run about 12psi+.

I got heaps of pics on camera ill upload some when I next get the chance.

Sounds like an awesome project mate, very keen to se som pics and updates - wish I could've done mine, bloody living costs! :clap:

wow! nice job! that exhaust is going to scream!

headers look fantastic, not sure about your intake though... looks a bit nasty around that first turbo.

Looks great revenge!

One question though, what was the point of putting the cats there if you've got no mufflers or resonators on there either? Should have just put no cats as well so it pops flames and it will be loud still anyways :P
