Hey all, I have come up with an idea for my car, I know I'm gonna get a few nay sayers and there are probably a few more cons rather than pros, but that's why I'm posting...

A twin turbo XR6...

Using twin 3540's kept internally gated for space saving means, the manifold would be split ie three runners go up to a merge collector three others go down (I've seen this on PACs new VL drag car)

My first point of concern is the power steering pump, as I think it may be in the way for intake purposes, then I'd definately have to put a pwr expansion tank on, if not modified cos the standard one would probably melt!

I was also thinking of the need for cams, maybe to help spool the thing up? I don;t think there would be a problem running it with the edit, as it will be internally gated so I think you could run the two from one if you get what I mean...

obviously a plenum and big twin entry cooler will be needed (RAP1D!) and possibly battery relocation to the boot.

I would appreciate any thoughts and comments regarding my idea, as I think this would be a first (please correct me if I'm wrong) Also, what have I forgotten? my engine is already built with atomic internals and Nizpro valve springs, so it should be up to the task for awhile in the developement stage - I hope!

Cheers,

Pat

Great idea, always wondered when someone was going to attempt this.

I think Gavin K was looking into this at one stage.

I'm already trying to get a block from somewhere, I think one of our service depts should have one with a hole in it somewhere, mostly so I can work out the turbo set-up

Would be good to see a TT beast Senna but being able to get over 500+kw with a single set-up why would you bother? Novelty effect?

I remember bcl mentioned this a while ago, I don't think anyone has attempted it yet, but it could be an awesome project.

You could probaly use smaller turbo's too.

you're right I could use smaller turbos and it is kind of for the novelty, the same question can be asked why would you put a twin turbo set-up on a gemini, but that won alot of awards not too long ago, so I figure, lets think outside the box and go for something different!

You have to use smaller turbos than that they are too big. You can also have external waste gates or use some turbos of wrx's for an example. Runn them into a custom intercooler with two inlets and one outlet battery in the boot an hks boost controll and you are done. I think you will have to look at a drag box and maybe over 750rwkw though......

Sorry, had a customer come in! Thanks for the link Brian, and cheers to gav for the input, but the idea is to keep the 3540's - part of the plan you see. Also, it doesn't have to be tuned to the max from the word go, I want to get the set-up right first, then we can play with power.
