maybe everyone was listening to your sig!

Just checked around, the oil light will probably come on at anywhere between 10-15psi, as this is getting towards the dangerous level. I've got a autometer oil pressure gauge in mine and when the car is warmed up the oil pressure site at ~25psi at idle and up to 75 when under load.

Hope this helps mate

Two days and noone can tell me how low the oil press. has to drop before the light comes on?

The only Numbers I could find are:

Minimum Oil Pressure when hot ( @ 2000 rpm ), 230Kpa / 33.35 psi / 2.27 atm / 2.30 Bars.

It's the best I can do.

The only other way would be, to pull out the Oil Pressure Sender Unit , but a multimeter across it and apply air pressure via a gauge in to the Switch, and see when the meter stars to react. If I had a switch I would do it. But I am not going to pull the one out of my car. ;-)

that sound about right f-wolf, I really don't think the factory safety system would let it go lower than 10psi, if that, without warning you

Mine is about the same,

Also sorry to get off topic but can anyone give me an idea as to what are the safe oil temps and not so safe oil temps? My oil temp sit around the 210 F, if I'm giving the car a bit of curry she get higher. I do realise I'm in Darwin and everything runs a bit hotter up here, just abit concerned that's all.

Cheers for now

Re Oil Temp.

210F = 99 C.

My car used to run at 105 C / 221 F just driving around town and Highway. When I started to give it a bit of you know what going up hills, the temp went up to 120 C / 248 F plus and took a long time to come down again.

My answer, an Oil Cooler System with Thermostat. Now the temp stays at 80 C / 176 F and may go to 100 C plus when driving up hills, but will come down much quicker when I slow down again.

A F1 Car Runs Water Temp of 115C, and Oil Temp of 90C !

" The ideal operating range for engine oil is 82°C through 93°C. While operating within this range, the oil works as a lubricant, coolant, and cleansing agent in the engine. Modern engines generally run with radiator coolant temperatures between 93°C and 104°C with oil temperature ranges between 6°C and 23°C HOTTER. In other words, when the engine is performing flawlessly, the engine oil is already overheating! Oil that exceeds 105°C rapidly loses its ability to lubricate and cool causing accerlerated fatigue and premature component failure. "

And one more thing.

I am sure some T owners have taken off the Turbo Air Intake pipe and seen Oil on the Inlet of the Turbo.

The reason is because the Engine Oil is getting too hot. The small black plasic pipe from the Rocker-Cover to the Intake will carry a lot of " Oil Vapour " in to the Turbo intake.

Once I fitted the Oil cooler System, the Oil Deposits at the Turbo inlet stopped.

This is from the FORD workshop CD:

Also found this some time ogo. Interesting !. Yet our T's did not come with an Oil-Cooler !

I managed to have the Oil Temp warning light and chime come on a few times at my last track day at Wakefield on a 25 C day. It forced the ignition timing part of traction control on until it cooled down again and scared the crap out of me the first time! This was on a stock like tune too. In the end I was doing 3 lap sprints with 1 lap cooldowns, not fun. Deninitely need an oil cooler.

For me this kicked in at 225 F on my guage, maybe it reads lower cause the sender is at the sump plug, but it's all relative to what I'm used to. Now that the weather has become warmer I've noticed the temp can get up to 210 F on my guage just from peak hour driving in afternoon traffic with aircon.

Just at the beginning of Oct, I spoke to one of the guys on the phone at NiZpro who said they were developing an oil cooler kit for the T including all the bits and instructions on fitment etc, though they weren't planning to use a sandwich plate with thermostat. I would source one myself if need be though. Hope they finish it soon! If any other sponser can produce a kit, please do.

Oil pressure is usually 25 psi at idle for me though has been 20-25 when super hot like the above moments. Cheers.
