They want to a lot of trouble!

But as you say - they won't be able to sell it. Even if they wait a couple of years - its not just something you can put in the trading post and hope no one notices...

Nice thing to have but!

It does seem like they went to a lot of trouble. And since they cant sell it I reckon a private collector got them to do it. Paying someone 100 grand to steal it for you, is much better than paying 600 grand. It will probably just sit inside a barn next to other priceless cars only visible to the private collectors inner sanctum...

Or have I watched to many movies?

That is a damn shame why take a car like that, its not somthing you could ever resell or use it would stand out like dogs nuts. They definately knew what they were doing and seems like had been planning for a bit.

Side note

My Old boy got rid of his True Blue Phase 3 GTHO when I was just 2 years old cause the insurance on the car wasnt worth it at the time. back in late 87. sold it for $14,000 the guy that bought it still owns it has had a full ground up rebuild a few times it is immaculate.

he purchased it from the manager of the ford dealer it was his car at the time. had the bathurst globe wheels, wing sump, better radio and interior all the optioned gear it was a totally remarkable car. The car was a machine for its time and probly still is in some respects and he loved every minute of it.

He doesnt regret it cause he knows at the time it was what was best, but he said if he had it now he wouldnt sell it. the guy that owns it now had it valued at around the $800,000 one of the cleanest GTHOs still around.

Hindsight is a wonderfull thing though haha.
