this is why Ive upgrade my auto.

I will be upgrading again soon to the APS Phase 4 kit and will be doing the auto again when the new mods go in. worst case scenario is if the auto in my Ute doesn't cut the mustard with the upgrade ill replace it with a race prepped 2 speed glide I have spare from my race car.

Hi Ern who did your auto up?

in my ute the auto was done by Autotech when I upgraded to the APS Phase 2 kit. shifts so hard its not funny when you give it a bootful. even when you cruise and pussy the car along from a standing start you can feel it change hard. its better then it has even been.

my spare 2 speed Glide was done by Al's Race Glides

well why the heck would someone do mods to car if the tranny wont hold up. am I to expect because I create substantial power increase that I don't need to be told that my tranny wont hold up. I think tuners need to tell people about the possible problems before they go ahead. I brought this up with my tuner and he said it might hold up and it might die. a clearer response would have helped. would a surgeon do a heart transplant with a person who has lung cancer. I don't think so. are tuners able to tell before these mods are done whether the tranny will hold up. It cant be just a guessing game. any way fords xr6t and the FPV models are terrific in their natural form. I think when you start playing with them, things go horribly wrong!

sorry to hear about the auto matey :crybaby:

when I spoke to Spiro from Autotech this was the first thing he said to me.when you upgrade the power the auto may not hold up which is fair enough as from factory the auto is able to sustain the power but when you start turning the wick up then you will always run into problems.......... I should know I have a race car ive spent nearly $300,000 on in 10 years of ownership only to have things go wrong all the time grrrrrrrrrr I hate thinking about it sometimes

I didnt want this type of drama as my Ute is getting on in years ( 99350kms ) so I decided to bite the bullet and fresh it up. the best choice I made IMO ( in my opinion )

I dont have a solution for you as im sure the members here will add there views but when you do mod a car you take it at your own risk ( please dont think im having a go at you )

you could try and speak to your tuner again and see what solutions he has......... it might not be as bad as you think.

once again I am sorry for what happened to you and hope it all works out :spoton:

you said that your tuner told you your gearbox "might hold up and it might die" so you were told! modified cars are expensive and you cant expect to get a 50% increase in power and not have thing break its just going to happen.. guys have had gearboxes strengthened and still blowen them at your power level, you have to realise you are driving a 1.8Ton car that is capable of an 11 sec time.

In all honesty your tuner sounds alright given they have agreed to get your gearbox fixed and let you pay it off over time... so if I were you I would take that offer and consider it a lesson learnt, just make sure they give you a strengthen box and not a stocker!! :spoton:
