I have been to the P&O Port Botany terminal several times in my car. Usually having a fork infront with a container and behind. I was told they cannot always see a car and to keep well clear of them as they are known to drop containers from time to time.

Scary being in the office and see big forks driving at speed with loaded containers.

Nah with these forks you drive with the load in the air about 1 and half stories high off the ground so you can see where your driving and well so u don't ball something over :P

What the driver was doing he's in the right

Normal rules don't apply to the waterfront?

If that happened at our work, the bloke would more than likely be on a permanent holiday.

If an incident occurs, a system has to be put in place to prevent it happening again. IE you cut your hand, approprate gloves have to be worn at all times by all employees.

We have, for the last ten or more years, had to wear safety glasses at all times except in a vehicle or an office.

That doesn't sound too bad if there is only 25 employees, but when there are thousands, it's a costly exercise and a PIA

I was told yesterday knives are not to be used on site unless the supervisor has deemed it to be the ONLY way to do the job. (can I cut my sandwich?)

OH&S are pretty tough these days and workcover are on the prowl.
