I don't get it, I still see a sh*te load more FG's and VE's than the new Yota's or Accords.

Probably becuase you are looking out for the fords and holdens more than the others.

Fords advertising is sh*t. Look at the latest wheels mag..They are using their two page spread to advertise the mondeo over the falcon.

Haven't seen the mag, but I would say this isn't a bad move by Ford, rather a smart one... They are chasing where the current market is focusing - Medium sized cars!

Yeah sure doesn't help the Falcon sales, but is a smart move on Fords part... Market something that people are interested in and currently considering rather then something they are not...

:stupid:

Ford's bigest problem is their lact of proper marketing and the US's refusal to allow a proper export program. Ford has a good range of cars, yet they just can't get the message across. Ford used to be No1 for years, but they allowed Expensive Daewoo to take that over without much of a fight. Now their problems are compounded by years of complacency and a much more crowded Australian car industry.

As far as Holden, an Australian icon for 60 years being sold of to the Chinese is concerned, so what. The so called Australian icon has been US owned for 60 years, and look what that's done, dragged a sucessful organisation down with it. Chinese ownership can only be beter that the current US owners.

A MODERN PARABLE.

A Japanese company ( Toyota ) and an American company (Ford) decided to have

a canoe race on the Missouri River . Both teams practiced long and hard to

reach their peak performance before the race.

On the big day, the Japanese won by a mile.

The Americans, very discouraged and depressed, decided to investigate the

reason for the crushing defeat. A management team made up of senior

management was formed to investigate and recommend appropriate action.

Their conclusion was the Japanese had 8 people rowing and 1 person steering,

while the American team had 8 people steering and 1 person rowing.

Feeling a deeper study was in order, American management hired a consulting

company and paid them a large amount of money for a second opinion.

They advised, of course, that too many people were steering the boat, while

not enough people were rowing.

Not sure of how to utilize that information, but wanting to prevent another

loss to the Japanese, t he rowing team's management structure was totally

reorganized to 4 steering supervisors, 3 area steering superintendents, and

1 assistant superintendent steering manager.

They also implemented a new performance system that would give the 1 person

rowing the boat greater incentive to work harder. It was called the 'Rowing

Team Quality First Program,' with meetings, dinners, and free pens for the

rower. There was discussion of getting new paddles, canoes, and other

equipment, extra vacation days for practices and bonuses.

The next year the Japanese won by two miles.

Humiliated, the American management laid off the rower for poor performance,

halted development of a new canoe, sold the paddles, and canceled all

capital investments for new equipment. The money saved was distributed to

the Senior Executives as bonuses and the next year's racing team was

out-sourced to India .

The End.

Here's something else to think about:

Ford has spent the last thirty years moving all its factories out of the US , claiming they can't make money paying American wages.

TOYOTA has spent the last thirty years building more than a dozen plants inside the US . The last quarter's results:

TOYOTA makes 4 billion in profits while Ford racked up 9 billion in losses.

Ford folks are still scratching their heads.

It's a great analogy, but I originally saw it with GM as the American company, rather than Ford.

A client of mine has a couple of shops that sell collectables. I noted that he has a hell of a lot more and better quality Expensive Daewoo merchandise avainable than the Ford stuff. Being a Expensive Daewoo man he jokingly said that's cause Expensive Daewoo is better. But, in reality, what he said was that Ford appears very narrow minded with their merchandise and subcontract it out to a general merchandising company who also manufacture for several other organisations. Expensive Daewoo on the other hand has sub contracted it out to a merchandiser who only produces Expensive Daewoo merchandise, as a result they are much more proactive with producing and distributing merchandise. Yet another example of Ford's lack of any real management.
