the toyota is an old person car now and unfortunately we live in an ageing population, I think the toyota is what the volvo used to be in the late 80's early 90's are car for the old people to buy and drive round in.

One of my mates bought a corrolla hatch about a month ago and nearlly fell over when he told me the price of it ( 32,000 drive away) I just couldnt spend that much on a toyota,

There are a lot of Indians out there :stirthepot:

I did notice that due to the problems in the USA, Toyota has been dumped as a recomended product by a US quality assured association.

On a personal note, I recently hired a Yarris and a Corolla on interstate trips and was really surprised by the lack of quality and refinement, especially in the Yarris. Unfortunatly you're fighting against decades of Toyota's reputation of building bullet proof Land Cruisers compared to Ford's lack of reliability over the same period. While the reality may be different now, it's hard to break through such deeply ingrained perceptions.

I too hired a Yaris while I was on holidays this year and was suprised on how cheap and nasty it was.Sloppy transmission, brake shudder, lifeless clutch pedal(as all toyota clutches are) and bad in cabin road noise.Junk really.

Also had a new hilux work mate 2.7 petrol ute.3 gearbox rebuilds and clutch replaced. It was an utter peice of sh*t to drive with a lifeless clutch as well.

Look at the TRD Hilux. There flagship performance ute with DRUM brake rear. They have no idea but still seem to sell cars.

Unfortunately Toyota has managed to establish itself as a practical and reliable car through record sales in the corolla and camry. Those 2 cars are the cornerstones of toyota and unfortunately they probably will remain to be for many a year to come.

Now their trying to get into the performance game introducing the supercharged Aurion...

First of all toyota if your gonna make a "performance" car NO FWD!!!!!

Another thing putting the 200kw Aurion motor into the Rav4 was probably the f*cking dumbest thing ever. Anyone whos driven one will agree with me that its the worst torque steering car theyve ever driven and the gearbox's.... YUCK!!!

In conclusion, Toyota can kiss my A$$...... if they can catch it

you're right, and unfortunately that's something we have come to terms with, I can stand out in the yard and prove to customers that the focus is a better car than the corolla, but then they wander over and have a look and end up buying it anyway, why? the badge and the name

I used to do the opposite. When it came to selling Toyota's, it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Proving to the customer how reliable, well built and good for re-sale a Toyota was compared to the rest, was easy. Although I will admit, some of them are a little expensive compared to their direct competition. Like a Yaris 5 door manual 1.5 was $20000 approx, when a Suzuki Swift or Honda Jazz were around the $17k mark. At least Toyota have seen the light, and are now offering drive away prices that are a little more competitive.

Not that I care any more anyway, seeing the pricks made me redundant. :crybaby:

Dam Toyota's - its almost like a cult...

Go anywhere, where there is an Asian, Indian, or like nationality in the area, they all drive BMW's, and BLOODY TOYOTA'S!!!

Seeing less Honda's in these areas which makes me wonder if some of the traditional Honda and the like owners are switching as well...

I have also always wondering if its anything to do with the perception of Jap owned company, therefore it must be better?

Now with Mitsubishi all but gone from Oz - I know a few people that went to Toys as well...

hhhmmm Interesting...

that's precisely it. Most people prefer practical and reliable family cars, not what the majority of us are driving. And Toyota's reliabity on there AUS lineup has been far superior to Fird and Expensive Daewoo for many years. No one ever talks about there unreliable Toyota, just how boring it is.

There Hilux appears to be everywhere and its got a great 4 litre in it.

Ford lost the plot in the late 80's early 90's. I bought a new camry back then, a V6 2.5.not the wide body one the one before it,I think sv25 fully imported model, compared to the ea and even the vn it out performed out handled them easily. There service was second to none, even when the car was out of warranty they fixed some problems free of charge. The ford bosses should pull there heads out of their arse and listen to there customers. You have to almost blackmail the dealer to repair anything at all on the cars.We have written your problem down so if it gets worse we will fix it,is what you get most of the time.Bought a new BA XR8 from day one it wasn't running properly.Ford said the engine was hunting. What they said next was quite disturbing ,I'm sorry Nick ford hasn't the right soft ware for this engine yet and are working on it,as soon as we receive it we will ring you to up date your cars computer. Can you imagine how I felt the week before I handed over almost 50k to buy a car that ford hadn't developing yet.Fords service sux and if they started to treat customers with respect and not toss them around like they do,people would keep buying them.I know more people that would never but another ford than any other make.9 times out of 10 its the small things Expensive Daewoo washes your car every time you take it for service, free coffee internet access all free of charge. On the other hand every time I speak to my ford dealer I feel im treated like an idiot take up his time,he dosn't want to help me and probably calls me a wa*ker when I go.
