I also wondered if this box would last a long time using the tiptronic function everyday? The manual - I had some troubles with getting catching the gears in the box I think it was mostly tying to go back down the gears from 3rd to second and had to clutch a couple of times to get it. admittally the manual typhoon was second hand as I haven't found a new dealer on to drive.I am definetly going to mod this car in the future and will be wanting big power and I really don't want to buy a car with a gearbox that is not going to handle it.For big power does the manual box just need a better clutch. and does the auot need to be rebuilt? and what are the costs on these new six speeds? any help or references to other posts would be greatly appreaciated. The manual is tough as nails, it needs a stronger clutch if you start putting decent power through it thoughAuto is good, quicker in straight line than manual, seems to hold good power wellthis thread should helpTyphoon - Auto or Manual Thread Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/39532-manual-or-auto-for-rspec-typhoon-help/#findComment-592386 Share on other sites
Muzza No V6 for me thanks!! Donating Members 583 Member For: 19y 9m 10d Location: Newcastle Posted 05/11/07 07:46 AM Share Posted 05/11/07 07:46 AM (edited) The Manual is going to be rare compaired to the Auto so if it's an investment go the manual. The auto 6 speed is a awsome box that you will be happy with for a long time.Muzza. I might be under the thumb over the colour but I got to choose the car, I told her I had to buy something fast so I didn't need to modify it. Guess I will just have to buy a Malwood short shifter for startes and not tell her. I thought I might have to accidently get the computer flashed as well Anyone know where there is a white rspec for sale in manual??? happy to travel to pick it up just need to find one and then get it for a good price. I also got a towbar fitted to it just for the hell of it I figure it makes people think "Who would own a car like that and tow stuff" .... Anyway I hopefully get to pick it up on Thursday or Friday from one of The Brisbane yards. The funny thing is I paid less for it than a standard F6 typhoon so I am really happy. Just need to get windows tinted now. Ford was way to expensive for all there paint protection and stuff for something you just wipe one and polish off.
