Hi all,

I am buyig the new r-spec typhoon and have some questions

I have taken both a manual and auto typhoon for a drive and found a couple of issues with both boxes.

the auto - when downshifting I felt like I was going to go through the screen with the engine breaking is this normal or what? I also wondered if this box would last a long time using the tiptronic function everyday?

The manual - I had some troubles with getting catching the gears in the box I think it was mostly tying to go back down the gears from 3rd to second and had to clutch a couple of times to get it. admittally the manual typhoon was second hand as I haven't found a new dealer on to drive.

I am definetly going to mod this car in the future and will be wanting big power and I really don't want to buy a car with a gearbox that is not going to handle it.

For big power does the manual box just need a better clutch. and does the auot need to be rebuilt? and what are the costs on these new six speeds? any help or references to other posts would be greatly appreaciated.

where are you located?

The manual is tough as nails, it needs a stronger clutch if you start putting decent power through it though

Auto is good, quicker in straight line than manual, seems to hold good power well

this thread should help

The Manual is going to be rare compaired to the Auto so if it's an investment go the manual. The auto 6 speed is a awsome box that you will be happy with for a long time.

no it wont cuz its a phoon.. the AP clutch will hold nearly all u can chuck at it.

also with these manuals just a simple fluid change to Castrol transmax Z completely transforms is to a smoother responsive box.

and the mal-wood quick shifter is gold!

as Troughy said wack in some trans max or if you dont mind spending a little more and can handle a slight increase in gear noise at idle put some royal purple syncromax in the box and the shifting will increase 100% If you fit a mal woods short shifter and bleed with clutch with some quality fluid you'll be amazed how nice the M6's can shift.

Yes manual it is... well I hope so trying to find one is the problem as my wife will only let me get black, white or silver in colour. I might be under the thumb over the colour but I got to choose the car, I told her I had to buy something fast so I didn't need to modify it. Guess I will just have to buy a Malwood short shifter for startes and not tell her. I thought I might have to accidently get the computer flashed as well :)

Anyone know where there is a white rspec for sale in manual??? happy to travel to pick it up just need to find one and then get it for a good price.

thanks for all your help guy's

I have just bought my car it is a RPSEC F6 Typhoon the 6 speed manual transmission and is silk in colour. :tease:

I also got a towbar fitted to it just for the hell of it I figure it makes people think "Who would own a car like that and tow stuff" .... :spoton: Anyway I hopefully get to pick it up on Thursday or Friday from one of The Brisbane yards. The funny thing is I paid less for it than a standard F6 typhoon so I am really happy. :stirthepot:

Just need to get windows tinted now. Ford was way to expensive for all there paint protection and stuff for something you just wipe one and polish off.
