I dont think P platers should be driving XR6 turbo's or any other high powered car im sorry. until they get a bit of maturity, and patience on the road.

Overseas in the UK, they penalise you severely on insurance costs until your over 22ish. it can be up to 5000 pounds sterling or more a year for insurance on a 2 litre car.

this is a bit steep, but I agree with it in the sence that P platers are the worst drivers on the road.

not all P platers are bad drivers.

I drove a EF falcon for about 2-3 years before I got my T and im on green plates now(got my lisence before the laws came to be in NSW)

I mainly got the tune to piss my brother off in his $50,000 VE SS saying that my car can beat his lol and it was half the price.

ive never had a single accident and I would class my T as a much safer car to drive then the EF which started to float at 100kph and had no safety features

What I find amusing is the fact most people class p platers as bad drivers. There are many good p plate drivers. Its funny how people 30, 40 etc think they are all good drivers. Experience helps but doesn't automatically make you a good driver. There is lots of other factors. :fear (5):

When is the right time to buy a performance(high powered car)???????????

The day you get your opens................

its not that clean cut

A f*ck head is a f*ck head, is does not matter what car they drive. Cars need to be roadworthy and driver education needs to be increased. All the other bullsh*t ias a stop gap measure, is there an election anywhere?

I'm all for the new laws, but I wonder why they are not national.

As for the claim about "not all P platers are bad drivers" is true, but the majority are due to inexperience and poor training.

While you may feel hard done by because of these laws, you should just do the time, get your full license and then drive what you want.

The government can throw around figures like 18% of drivers are 17-25, yet 32% of deaths on the road are 18-25 year old male drivers.

It sucks to be young, but it is only 3 years, so you will still have 50+ years ahead. While I do not think the laws will be very effective, at least the politicians can say they have done a half arsed effort in trying to reduce youn deaths on our roads.

The question answers itself, the Government is only going to do what benefits themselves.

Lets no go back down the path of the hoon riots, cars didn't smash the windows or loot stores, the dickheads did.

Scapegoating at its best :), The media is a powerful weapon

Doesnt matter if you're 20 or you're 40, theres always knobs on the road.

When you see the averages, yes the younger blokes are the ones with a higher death rate on the roads hence the higher insurance costs and laws. you can't win when everyone goes of statistics, no matter how good you are on the road.

You cant buy experience........or maturity.

Every P plater I come across thinks he can drive. No you f*cking cant.

You wont believe it because your ego ( and your mates ) tell you otherwise.
