Hello, I bring news of sloppy service and dissapointing outcomes.

I recently purchased some guages and a Clarion DVD player from an Autobarn store... I don't know what I was thinking!!!

I had originally booked in to have 2 cobalt guages installed along with the dvd player for an agreed price. So come install day I'm all excited and arrive at Autobarn. When I get in I'm told the guages haven't arrived. Then I'm told that the price I was given was wrong and that I would need to pay another $350 bucks. Naturally I told him this was definatley not going to happen. He then has a go at me for not knowing he gave me the wrong price! He said I should've known they were more expensive. It was crazy. AThen he went on to have a cry about the fact he had ordered guages that I wasn't going to pay for.

By this stage I was already pretty dissapointed with the service. But I let it go and chose some other guages to be installed.

I came back to pick the car up later that day and was crushed to find I had spend alot of cash for crap!

The DVD player has a big red dead pixel in the middle of the screen, it swallowed one of my cd's so now it only plays that CD, over and over again! My premium sound with the stacker has been dis-connected and now is useless. The different guages have had some crappy blue globes put in to try and make it match the dash lights, but has failed and cheapened my T.

All in all. The experience was a complete waste of time and money. I am still dealing with head office to try and get it all returned but so far no one will return my calls.

I guess this is a warning. If you value your T and don't want to install things yourself because your worried about damaging it. DON'T THINK THAT HIRING A PROFESSIONAL WILL WORK! Because if that individual works for Autobarn... You can probably bet he has trouble even spelling the word CAR!

Autobarn are a fine company at what they do. What they do is sell oil, polish, wiper blades and other associated car accesories.

The instal thing is just a sideline though to try and increase profit margins and I wouldn't imagine they would be paying top dollar to recruit the best instal guys, nor would they be spending a lot on training up guys with no experience.

You would be much better getting someone who does this for a living to instal audio equipment or gauges. Sure it will be a little bit more expensive, but chances are you won't get dicked around like you have with this mob of amatures either!

Hope that you have some luck when you eventually get someone from head office to call you back.

If you want a quality job, go to a local business who just installs car stereos for a living. Same with the gauges. Try an auto electrician or a mechanical business who specializes in mods, etc.

I wouldn't put up with that crap. pure and simple. If you can't get any joy out of them call up the ACCC and speak to them about options. I have had the same issues with a number of stores and as soon as the manager had received my letter of demand they were on the phone to talk about refunds. If you don't think the products that you were sold are merchantable, that is of the quality that you expect and they have defects, then your are entitled to a refund. If you need a hand PM me. Unfortunately, I've had to do this a number of times.

name and shame ENVY,

I'm in retail and used to be the service manager for an electronics company and know that you simply don't have to put up with that rubbish, have you tried speaking to the manager/prop at the store you got it done at? that may be a quicker option for you rather than through their head office.

also, dont let it drag on, keep on with them until it's sorted or they'll see it as a weakness and try to blow you off

if you want any advice of exactly what to say or quote PM me and I'll help as much as I can

Dan
