Replaced my stock front speakers with some Kenwood 5 by 7's. Ive got prestige sound in my ute, so ive got tweeters as well.

Im not sure where Ford have placed the crossover for the splits though. I had expected to at least find a filter capacitor on the stock speaker for the tweeters, but there was nothing there.....

The speakers are held in with torx bolts. I was lucky that a 5mm socket fit on nicely. So I was able to undo and redo them up using that. Heres the little bugger...

Now I solder everyday and firmly believe in soldering wires. I purely did this just to keep the stock plug on the loom incase I ever refit the standard speakers. I fitted male spade crimps onto the new speaker wire and fitted it to the stock plug, cable tied the plug onto the loom so its secure.

To be honest I cant hear a great deal of difference, im going to slot a set of 7 by 10's in the rear pillar soonish. So that should improve things.

I think the main difference will be heard once amplified.... When the stock speakers run out off puff when amped those should be staying clear and also louder....

Though the question still is where is the X over network located? Does the tweeter get a highpass audio signal straight from the ICC or is there a filter cap somewhere in the loom between the tweeter and the door speaker?

mate , I wouldn't be suprised if the x over is in the ICC, everything else is! Mr Bean might know, he's a bit of an expert on the audio side of things, I think lord cyric did a big install as well didn't he?

Hi guys, 1st pot here - there's a filter cap on the tweeters, if you pull the trim off the a-pillar you'll be able to see it mounted in behind the tweeter

The stock speakers are the absolute bottom of the range, tiny magnets on them and no specs written anywhere - I replaced my rears with a pair 7x5 Soundstream 3 wayspeakers, cut the trim in the boot away from behind them bent I back beind the speaker magnet to let the sound out and into the boot a bit more - gave the speakers a fuller sound and more bass. Pic was taken during my LPG instal.

The Stockies are Pioneer  I didn't know that.

Stockies on my old EFXR6 were pioneer just bottom spec bottom dollar pioneer.

So not really surprising for myself,

btw

Cadence 6x9s are a good rear replacement for the stock BA BF rears due to high quality/low wattage and most 7x10s are always good for max bass proficiency.

Is there any problem fitting 6x9 in the rear seeing the OEM is 5x7?

Also is there any problem with fitting 6" or 6.5" splits in the front?
