Did it go into limp mode? restricting power and holding gear?

If so I'd suggest it was Trans over heat, if not and it just reduced power a little, more likely to have been engine oil over temperature.

the boat is a quintrex 480 coastrunner just over a ton . I do have a trans cooler fited just in the top grill and I do drive in pefomance mode up and down the mountain..

yes went into a sort of limp mode loss of power , spoke to Shaun at ford today and says it is the trans strugeling with the load and heat. not sure what to do now i have trans cooler on already .

Did you bypass the radiator when you added the bigger cooler? if not i'd recommend it. fit a second(or even piggy back two) behind the rh fog light with a thermo fan. that will give you the most cooling when your towing at low speeds. Have you though abit getting your t/c modded to lower the stall speed to reduce slip and heat build up?

yes i bypassed the radiator so i dont have any water problems . think i might have to think about g/box mod to continue towing the boat.. trans cooler should do the job ??

two of those coolers piggybacked would be my preference with a thermo if you have to tow your boat alot. Personally i hate coolers in the front or radiators and intercoolers. Have you seen the cooler package Goldie has on his car? its tucked up at the back of the car.
