thought I'd post my story from last night up because I think its a bit rediculous.

was at Indy on friday here on the coast, went out afterwards with some mates, it was around midnight and I was buggered and falling asleap after consuming quite a bit of alchahol. I left melbas in surfers and was going to get a cab, half way there I needed to hang a leak.

So I find an alley way, walk down the very back of it, and round a corner, and pee on a concrete wall, totally out of view of everybody.

Then these two guys, im not sure if they were secutiry guards or whatever come up from behind me and ask me what I was doing, I told them I thought it was quite obvious did they really need a detailed description. They started pushing me around and taunting me, so first I tried to walk around them and back to the street, and there like well have to get the police here, I tried to walk around them a second time and they wouldnt let me.

So I had a think about it, and I thought of cracking the bigger bloke in the head, but I didnt know about this other guy, and I figured that with the amount of alchahol in me I probably couldnt throw a straight punch anyways. These guys werent interested in what I was doing, they just wanted to pick a fight with somebody.

so rather than biff them I told them to call the police if my urinating bothered them so much, so they did, I got handcuffed, driven to the watch house, fingerprinted and kept there in a cell till 6 am the next morning. When they asked for my fingerprints I said dont I need to speak to a solicitor before I do that, and the copper reckoned I'd stay there all weekend if I played it that way.

Im not saying what I did wasnt wrong, but I would have thought an on the spot fine would be appropriate, not to tie up the already congested court system with this rubbish, I bet the majistrate will be real happy about it.

There was another guy in the cell with me, he was an older guy, 50 odd, who came in to report hooning in his street, some guys doing burnouts or something, and the copper he was talking to said "what do you want me to do about it?" and he said well for starters you can get off your arse and either make a phone call, or go and have a look.

He was then wrestled to the ground, dragged up two flights of stairs, and locked up for the night - AND HE WAS REPORTING A CRIME! all because he pointed out the blindingly obvious which was this guy was lazy. He was in the same cell with me and had blood gushing out of his left leg.

WE DONT NEED MORE COPS ON THE STREET WE JUST NEED BETTER ONES. oh and I almost forgot, it took 6 policeman to arrest me, and I didnt put up a struggle, so you tell me if you think we dont have enough police ???

Well, the government in increasing the powers of people who already have an inferiority complex (not wanting to paint everybody with the same brush, but there are some REALLY bad examples around).

Just look at the treatment of the guy who wanted to cross the street during the APEC meeting, totally inappropriate use of violence against a guy who was obviously not threatening anyone.

We are now threatened and intimidated, all in the name of our own security, both here and overseas, and if you have a look at the general attitude of many police and security personnel, it looks like they can get away with anything, and nobody is going to stand up to the abuse of power, out of fear of ending up like they guy you describe.

Trust me, if you voice concern, you will be a 'troublemaker' and be arrested :stupid:

Great democracy we have in the 'free' world isn't it :spoton:

I agree with the original post... but why bother posting this thread will be locked in 5 seconds time for "cop bashing"

Well, to balance the argument - There are also some pretty poor representatives of the human race in the civilian population, particularly when drugs or alcohol are involved, so I'm sure the police are quite justified in many cases when someone is locked up for the night.

I havent been on the wrong side of a cop for over 20 years.

Most of the ones I talk to these days are good blokes.
