I thought it would be interesting to see how often everyone uses there sequential auto shift. I for one used it a few time when I first got my car but now I forget its even there, I find my car changes gears fine by its self. I find it weird using it because of the no clutch pedal situaltion. anyway guys tell your story

cheers

Daniel.

I use it most of the time so far.

I find it good when going up a hill, so I dont have to push the accelerator...

I'm still trying to get used to up is down, down is up a gear... I hit the rev limiter in first once....

I use it all the time(only got the auto for the cheese and kisses  )I only once put in drive and when I forgot it was in drive I forgot and tried to put it in reverse when downshifting

I like to change the gears rather than having to keep the boot in to hold a gear

Yeah, I use "Half - Half".

Auto's are priceless in stop-start traffic but the SSS is pretty cool when it's time to play.

Main reason I use it.......When you give it a bit of a foot full, it kicks back 1 or 2 gears far too easily for my liking, very annoying. Before you know it, the 'revs' are at 5500 - 6000??? (I know, I'm a hoon...lol). Have more control with the SSS. Wind out the gears and give it a good thrashing.

Don't know if you XR6T guys and gals experience something similiar from this humble NA driver...

Probably a good thing I don't have the turbo model.....I'd end up wrapped around something sooner or later...

I mainly use it to slow me down more than anythign else.

otherwise I use performance mode in traffic and adp everywhere else. I find it shifts smoother automatically but its really impressive how quick the shifts are for a non shift kitted trans

Yeah, probably a good thing with the quality of the disk rotors.

I always use the manual sequential mode in the XR8. It is just a habit from driving auto gearboxes manually which I have done for years (and I don;t have a choice in the Dodge - The Torqueflite is a fully manualised gearbox with the high stall converter)

I believe you have significantly more control over the car if you shift the auto manually, as it allows you to be sympathetic with the rpm/gears and at the same time use a bit more engine braking to relieve the load on the brakes. This is one of the reasons the brakes go off so quickly in the Fords....the downshift change points are regulated by the electronics due to tailshaft rpm, so the brakes have to retard the inertia without any help from the gearbox (via engine braking)

Almost always

(Not in heavy traffic, or if eating - which of course I dont do :innocent: )

Im a manual man myself but just loved the SSS.

When driving the auto manually you can not only hold the gears longer without having to give the accel pedel the boot BUT you can also change down gears and faster accelleration without givign it the boot AND you can hold say second gear going round a corner ready to give it some on the exit.

I use it most of the time now and find I get better fuel economy. Plus I agree with Cam, but like how you can hit a sharp tight corner where in the manual you would have to use second, in the auto you can hit first and drop the boot just before it changes and just launch!!! These manual, autos are for nana's type people are just so last century. ( Awaits the barrage of insults from the stick boys ). :innocent:

Now I've been driving a bit more I use it all the time.

Especially when I'm braking. With it in drive and using the brakes I feel like I'm wearing them out very quickly so I use the gears to slow down.
