I see it as a good idea, but it depends on your plans and expected end result...If, you just want a fairly tame turbo car with around the 300wkws, then yeah, go buy an XR6T and save your hassles and dollars.BUT, if your going for the big gun turbo car with 400plus, then it can work out a smart move.Lets see whats replaced on an xr6t to get you well over the 400 mark...Turbo, chuck that out... too smallIntercooler system... too small againExhaust... same deal, out it goesExhaust manifold... to restrictive, in the wheelie bin it goesPlenum... waaay to restrictive, gone!Injectors... they get chucked on any turbo choiceMotor... rebuild time so an NA block & head will be fineEct ect...Once all that gear has been taken off, its an NA carDo the sums and you'll see what I meanNo way, isn't the Garrett good for 600kw and a hi flow cat and demuf will fix the stock exhaust (not great but it will do). The way I see it, it will cost at least 7k to get an N/A to a standard ba T so you will not save any cash at all. Also the paint will be a crap colour cause XT's don't get any of the good XR colours. So why bother.

Baddy Member 56 Member For: 17y 5m 4d Posted 20/10/07 09:04 AM Share Posted 20/10/07 09:04 AM Guys, I've converted my ba xr6 n/a to a factory turbo. It's a straight forward job and doesn't cost a lot. The only pain in the a$$ is that you have to upgrade the diff and tranny to be safe (not that mine broke). The wiring harness for a T is the same as n/a, only difference is that turbo harness has a smaller map plug. You will also need a turbo ecu, there is an ecu for a manual and an auto (you will need right one otherwise you will have problems). The boost plugs and sensors are already in the n/a engine bay, but are taped up and hidden. Once everything is installed you will need to tow it to ford to get the new ecu linked to the bcm, so the car starts. At the end of the day it is better to buy a turbo from the start, but if you can find a cheap good turbo engine, then it wont be an expensive project. It costs the same as supercharging your n/a but the turbo has much more potential. Hope this helps.
