Either way if it costs you 10k plus to do it properly and god knows how much f*cking around, at least you will set a precedent for other guys thinking of trying it.

I reckon it would be an awesome sleeper, and only you can weigh up the money and effort and resale value to justify whether to do it or not ... don't let us stop you

It's beyond me why people spend their dough to modify an NA to a T.

Even if it costs the same, just buy a T.

You'll have an LSD (waste of time not too, even in the NA really) and all of the right ECU, etc.

If it's stealth your after, take the Turbo badge off.

Now, if you've blown the motor in your NA and it's out of warranty, then sure, why not get an upgrade.

Even if it is a little less to do than buying a T, you'll more than make up for it in resale. Look at the values of original ESP XEs compared to an xD tricked up to look like one.

Dont think it would be that expensive if every thing is second hand, things like the standard turbo exhaust and intake pipes are almost given away when people are up grading.

Just keep an eye out on the forums and ebay and maybe ring around some of the tune shops, if you are willing to wait for the bargains to come along, I am sure it won't hurt the hip pocket too much.

Still waiting for a BFMKII fairmont ghia turbo conversion to be done.

NA to turbo?

I see it as a good idea, but it depends on your plans and expected end result...

If, you just want a fairly tame turbo car with around the 300wkws, then yeah, go buy an XR6T and save your hassles and dollars.

BUT, if your going for the big gun turbo car with 400plus, then it can work out a smart move.

Lets see whats replaced on an xr6t to get you well over the 400 mark...

Turbo, chuck that out... too small

Intercooler system... too small again

Exhaust... same deal, out it goes

Exhaust manifold... to restrictive, in the wheelie bin it goes

Plenum... waaay to restrictive, gone!

Injectors... they get chucked on any turbo choice

Motor... rebuild time so an NA block & head will be fine

Ect ect...

Once all that gear has been taken off, its an NA car

Do the sums and you'll see what I mean
