the RB26dett was an awesome motor, 1000hp was achievable on the 2.6L capacity however there was a great need for rods and pistons and big turbos to do this, not to mention alot of other things, the Veilside 1400hp GTR that broke the new zealand land speed record can prove this, there is no way a standard RB could make that power (duh!)

All you meatheads dismissing the GTR as Jap crap should take a good hard look around.

If you really think Falcons and Commodores are even in the ball park, let alone the same league you really are kidding yourselves. It has been the catch cry of the neandethol for years, if it's quicker than a big heavy sedan, then it's either put down as "Jap Crap" or "Hi-tech Junk". A typical tall poppie case of if you can't beat it, bag it.

The GTR is the holy grail of intelligent performance cars. Falcon and Late model camira can only dream of matching the build quality of Japanese cars. :roflmbo:

Praise where praise is due, a stock 12sec V6 for less than $150k is fantastic. Add in the GTR's bulletproof reputation of being able to handle 1000+ hp mods and all you guys that are concerned over the car's looks will only have to look at the back of it.

Totally agree, the gtr skylines are just an awesome machine. but hey im biased owning one previous and also part of SAU still

still dont think this looks as good as the r34, but boy does it have the power

dont forget your looking at a stock standard car in the photos too... once some of those jap tune shops start pimping and modding the new GTR its gonna look AWESOME... if you cant see the potential here you have rocks in your head!

good choice ZAP, a true performance car that's gonna smoke most heavily modified fords... :blush:

"Yes, it lives up to all the hype!

The coming Nissan GT-R is a world-class supercar: Top speed of 193 mph, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, a 473 hp, 433 lb ft twin-turbo V6 mounted in the front and driving all four wheels through a rear-mounted transaxle. Take a breath. Okay, continue. And a dual-clutch six-speed automatic you can operate via paddles on the steering wheel.

After a full day driving it on the Nurburgring, the Autobahn and up and over numerous little German country roads we can easily say this is one car that was not over hyped. It is truly a world-class supercar on par with, if not just ahead of, the iconic Porsche Turbo. (They had a Porsche Turbo on hand, too, and we thought the GT-R felt better tied down.)

But it’s one thing to put a license plate on a race car and call it streetable. Chief engineer Kazutoshi Mizuno said the new GT-R was designed and engineered as an all-around, all-season, all-weather car that is comfortable to drive every day, even at normal speeds on a normal day.

During the few minutes we drove at what could be called a “normal pace†that day we’d have to say we agree with him. But given only a few hours at the wheel of this, the most highly anticipated supercar in years, we were only in “normal†mode for very brief spurts. The rest of the time we were at some level between “pushing it†and “hammering on the mutha’.â€

Our first time behind the wheel was on the A48 autobahn in Germany somewhere out around Koblenz or Koln or some other K-town where the German socialist government had not yet succeeded in adding those awful 120-km-hr speed limits. It was like Bonneville with elevation changes and guardrails. The only limitation out here was aerodynamic. Hence, we were obliged to go all-out whompin’ fast the whole time..."
