Posted 17/10/07 05:42 AM Share Posted 17/10/07 05:42 AM I would not think no matter what type of tune you have over 300 rwkw's low down or up high the rods are on there limits well before 300 anyway so you are living on borrowed time.I blow mine at 305 rwkw's with very conservitive tune that is power produced higher than most and it still bent rods.My best mate bent 2 rods at 270 rwkw's with an even milder tune so go figure.300 is the upper limit for any sort of long term usage.Ian Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/39058-time-to-come-out-of-the-closet/page/3/#findComment-585425 Share on other sites

groper Member 611 Member For: 18y 2m 10d Posted 17/10/07 06:14 AM Share Posted 17/10/07 06:14 AM blueboost ran over 200 1/4mile passes including the 10sec pass and never bent a rod, and that was in a BA! with stock internals... prob up around 350rwkw, he didnt have a dyno at the time...The big thing is to always run good fuel and have safe tunes where temp vs timing and borderline knock tables have been done correctly with plenty of timing the ECU can pull out if it hears a ping... mind you, if the knock sensor isnt working then that could cause a problem in detecting then preventing it... from what ive heard, the knock sensors sensitivity varies alot too and I think they are better in the BF. for example, the knock sensor in my car hears the slight knocking before the human ear can we have found, and then it can pull out up to 4 degrees depending on how much knock it heard... but on some other cars, the human ear could hear the pinging before the knock sensor could react which is really too late and you should get a new/better knock sensor or risk your engine...somtimes people get bad fuel too, and this is what I worry most about... for example on my old generic tune, my car used to ping on shell vpower 98 but not on bp98... so I NEVER run shell anymore as I know its inferior in some way... This can be changed within the edit software. My ute has knock control problems, it's pulls as much timing out as it can over time without any pinging. After alot of screwing around we turned it off and made sure the tune has a good safety margin in it.I've done 60,000km of a total 116,000km with mods and so far I've had no engine dramas. One day the engine will let go. The stress it's put under over time will eventually win and something will break. As for engine failures there are alot that don't make it to the forum. I know of one very recent turbo Territory that melted a piston after being tuned. As far as this thread is concerned...I think it's a good idea to share experiences. I never have understood why people hide details about things. But, can we please not turn this into a tuner bashing thread? If somethings happened then by all means post it up but leave the tuners names out of it. All tuners will have customers with both good and bad experiences. There's no need to rubbish someones name from one or two bad accounts.Cheers Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/39058-time-to-come-out-of-the-closet/page/3/#findComment-585456 Share on other sites
