Hi. My Name is straughsberry, I'm a 38 year old man from Melbourne Australia. Ashamedly, I bent 2 condrods on stock internals with a CAPA generic 10psi tune purchased from KPM.

Wow, that feels much better. Cant wait to run my new donk in for 500k's then cane the crappers out of it. I bet that will feel even better.

Freaks me out how people can think 300rwks plus, can be safe with an engine that has been essentially designed for maybe 300fwkw. that's a big ask for a engine to sustain reliably considering it maybe producing up to 50% more power than it has from factory, 50% that is huge.. Think about it.

Yes it can be safe, when the tuner knows what they're doing and you have protection against detonation in place.

It makes me laugh how people say "Oh don't go over the magic 300rwkw's mark because you'll bend a rod". It's those people, (like yourself), who are a little less knowledgeable and like to take everything they read on a forum as gossible and not know the full story behind the situation.

In fact it is often more dramatic than that.

Many of the tunes we see here produce their peak power low in the rev range.

Producing xxx rwkw at 5500rpm is one thing, producing the same power at 3000rpm is quite another. In short, the torques and other loads generated are massive.

The XRT factory tunes have essentially flat torque profiles so power is proportial to revs.

aa

Always very sensible with your post mate, that's great.

I have to agree. A good tuner will ensure that peak power comes on gradually and later in the rev range. Smooth torque curve means less chance of something going boom.

Another question is how much power do you need? If you are building a car to make quick times on the 1/4 mile then build the bottom end box before loading crazy mods. If you are building for a street cruiser then why would you need above 270 rwkws anyway that's around 320 at the fly.
