Xr6t Fuel Economy

Same here - as I've found the ADR fuel consumption sticker is bang on what we get - 12.7 litres per 100km. My wife drives mostly, and it's a mix of town & highway. What gets me is how much fuel the engine uses when accelerating in low-rpms off boost, somewhere around 35 litres per 100km! I wouldn't mind comparing that to an NA XR6 to see if our major penalty is coming from the low compression ratio causing higher fuel consumption at low rpms.

Unfortunatly, until I saw the light, I started with a N/A xr6 bf ute, and would get around 750k's a tank for country runs and 650k's for city. With my XR6T bf ute I get around 30-40k's less for each of the above figures, which isnt a bad tradeoff for owning a turbo. Per tank, I put my foot down now and then but not at every set of lights.

I think the utes get better fuel comsumption due to the tall diff ratio 2.78.

My ute is stock (for now) apart from f6 airbox and hi-flo filter.

if I drive it like I stole it, I get around 200-250 kms per tank...

if I drive down the highway I get about 700km per tank...

for an average of boot in and boot out, a little highway and a little round town, I get around 390km per tank...

I was getting pretty horrible economy previously, but after doing the boost solenoid maintenance I've found that I'm getting much better figures, between the 380-420 mark, depending on driving. I have been behaving a little more, but not much more,

could the boost solenoid lube-job have that much of an effect??

I just did a 440k round trip towing a bike trailer full of gear and bike, a lot of twisty, hilly stuff, and I wasn't hanging around. A lot of overtaking and spirited driving, and all on the one tank of fuel.

(The STI in front of me must've been surprised to see a big Falcon towing a trailer sticking with him through the twisty hill climbs :buttrock: )

I get 18.4. I've only owned the BF xr6t for 6 months and I have always been getting crap economy. I'm a bit heavy on the foot but that is still too high. I took it back to Ford and now they have me doing a log book even though I know it will say about 300 km per tank. Something is wrong and I'm not happy. espically with $1.50 fuel prices in Darwin.

We are getting 16.8/100, round town which is a far cry from the Magna @ 11.8 and even worse than the old Hundi (manuals) but laughing compared to the Landcruiser (auto).....(thankful for getting rid of that)

back to the same comment .... if you wanted fuel economy you buyed the wrong car!

Last October the Mrs and I drove to Woolongong from Canberra.

I filled the tank on the T right to the top on the way out. Reset the trip computer. When we got to Woolongong it showed 9.1 litres per 100km.

Next day back to Canberra. Filled up again @ the same Shell Station, recorded the total kms.

Canberra to Woolongong and back: 461 km.

Fuel used : 43.5 Litres : by 4.61 = 9.44 Litres per 100km , or 720Km per 68 litre Tank.

Around town the T uses abut 13.5 litres per 100km , = 500 Km per Tank.

BA MK II 6 Speed Manual.

Engine Oil Cooler, 82C Thermostat, 2nd cold air intake, NGK Iridium Spark Plugs set @ .9mm. No other Engine mods.
