My XR is fitted with the factory alarm and I went to unlock it today after not driving it for 1 day and now it doesn't beep.

The alarm still works but doesn't make any sound.

Has anyone had the same problem?

Hi FPRXR-6,

This will be a difficult one to solve. Those of us who chose to have the alarm fitted by the dealer have never had the beep (except when opening the boot). And the dealers don't have the software yet to modify the BEM that controls this feature.

I prefer not having it on, because it allows you to sneak out a night for quick blast without waking up the neighbours?????

I had a look at the little alarm box in the engine bay and it has been tampered with.

The box was opened up with 1 piece dangling around in the engine bay with 1 wire ripped off!

I took my car to get the 3000km service 2 weeks ago, so some dickhead at the dealer touched it, so I'm going there tomorrow morning and show them what I think of this!!:angry::angry:

That is crap and totally unacceptable.

For the record, my alarm is fitted by the dealer and beeps every time I press it on of off. The only time it doesn't is if it is already off - in which case the light comes on but no sound (I know ... dickhead trying to turn it off when it's not even on!!) On the other side of the coin, if I try to turn it on once it is already on it goes off - gave me a hell of a fright the first time I did that!!!

I would be interested to know how you go - be sure to give us all of the details once you've spoken to them!!

Good Luck

Your dealer can change the settings of the alarm and make it beep when you arm and disarm it.

Mine never has beeped thank christ, to lock one press ,you hear it lock ,door knob goes down, blinks twice. To open driver door only ,one press. To open all doors ,two presses. To open stinken boot without alarm sounding, you have to press door first, sucks ford. Most ppl seem to find this to be the case.
