After about 4 months since I got it fixed last time, I'm starting to loose 5th and reverse again. Last time I was told a bolt came loose in the box and was easy to fix, but it set me back $300. Now I'm pretty sure it's coming loose again which means another 300 to fix. Is this a common thing in the five speeds and is there a way to fix it for good?

LOL, it is an expensive fix, but you'll never have to worry about it again, if you are after big power, the T5 is gonna hold you back and give you trouble all the way out

what do you mean loose them? stick wont go into that gate? grinding?

Yup that's it, and for the above posts OBVIOUSLY a T56 would fix the problem but OBVIOUSLY I don't have a lazy 6k to spend on a gearbox.

if it crunches in I would guess syncros, that happened to 5th in my t5, and is common. when you had a loose bolt and the same problem to start with perhaps that was putting extra pressure on the syncros or something and they are now buggered. perhaps shoot a pm to wbt56 or 6speedxr8 and see what they have to see. no doubt mal has seen this type of thing before and will be able to help you out.

best of luck

Not so much grinding more just not going in when I ask, if it gets worse I'll have to get in touch with the guys you mentioned and see how I go. I want more power in the future so I'll probably have to get a T56 anyway.

Thanks for your help mate.

The T5 is getting pretty bad now, I was thinking mabey if I get it pulled apart cleaned, flushed out high quality oil put in then add a ripshifter and a heavyduty clutch mabey this would look after it a bit better and help it to last abit longer. You guys think this would help or am I just throwing good money at a sh*t box.

I reckon by the time you do that you'd have spent a good chunk of a T56 on the T5, also, you plan to get more power, the T5 won't last with well over 300rwkw, I think all roads point to mal wood T56! Also, are you planning on keeping the car for a long time? if you're only gonna have it for another two years, that's something you should consider before spending big dollars
