I was just wondering what everyone thinks about the strong police tactics at this years great race.

I think its a bit crook taking peoples grog.

I bet theres a big party planned at the police station in bathurst looking at that horse float I saw on the news packed with stolen cough cough confiscated grog.

what do u think is it a bit heavy handed to have the water cannon on standby.

One carton, per person or car per day?

I hear they have a water cannon down there?!?! Might come in use for the first Expensive Daewoo that kisses the mountain! I think its a bit over the top, however a few years ago I remember some blokes car got torched in a paddock...

50 people have been charged with drug related charges already. Its just the police flexing their muscle and trying to show whose the boss. The police have done this in the past at Bathurst when they used to have the Motorbike Grand Prix there and all that did was cause tension between the police and motorcycle gangs which caused violent riots and this went on for years. If the police continue to pester people on the mountain it WILL end in violent riots. Hopefully the police have more sense but I dont think they do!

Piss off, you and I could go to Bathurst and have a few drinks and a good time and the police would not trouble us at all. It is the people that act in an antisocial manner that they are targeting, its a shame it has to be done, but it does. My dad took me to bathurst as a kid and if I had a son I would like to take him.

Bathurst is an iconic event, that motor enthusiasts can go, should be an event that endears the general public to the enjoyment that motorsports can bring. Not a binge drinking yobbo f*ckwit event.

Im sorry but I could not go to Bathurst and only have a few drinks. Binge drinking and Bathurst go hand in hand. There has been binge drinking f*ckwits there as long as the race has been going

Wife beating, not wearing selt belts, drink driving, was all the rage 15 years ago, the people evolve. Cars and Alcohol dont mix, my view only and I am not having a shot at anyone. But with the fun police and ever increasing pressure on the motor enthusiest to stop enjoying their favourite past time. We the Aussie male and female motor enthusiest have to potray the pastime as good clean fun (just look at Football).

Sorry Bathurst cost an arm and a leg, all else aseide why pay good money and then write yourself off and attract unwanted attention?

Beers and sport are made for each other. There is nothing wrong with going to Bathurst, Indy or what ever and having a gut full of beer with a bunch of mates its not against the law. More and more people go to watch sporting events in Australia and beers sales only go up and up so I dont think people are evolving. Im looking foward to getting drunk at the cricket over summer with my mates. Its just not Australian to not get drunk at our iconic sporting events. :spoton:

Police do a hard job but they are doing the job just imagine what it would be like up there if the cops didn't show.

Do you really think they needed to bring water cannons though? that's asking for trouble if you ask me. There is nothing wrong with a police presence though.

just be thankfull you can still take beer to bathurst and not have to line up at some grog bench getting served beer flavoured water by shazza for $9.90 a pop, like every other sporting event
