I've had mine nearly a year and had no dramas. Hopefully I wont in the future either!

The infamous "Red Rings of Death" is very common with the earlier consoles. I got my 360 on release day and got a good 14-16 months from it before it died. Microsoft now cover the console for this type of failure for 3 years, so it should give you some piece of mind. The service I received from Microsoft was exceptional. They paid for my consoles shipping to and from repair and it was done within 48 hours. I also received a letter of apology and 1 month free Gold XBL membership. I couldnt ask for more than that.

the gpu in the console is the problem. it causes the solderon the board to unseal which causes the console to RROD.

The xbox is technically superior to the ps3 is nearly every way, especially when it comes to the graphics chip.

In the US and Uk it is outselling the PS3 as it is un australia although the difference isnt that great here. Lets hope the wii dies in the arse because cheap gaming spells the death of the industry IMO.

Im getting one for xmas cause all I wants Halo 3 and maybe Forza 2. But you blokes either rate it or hate it, not too many inbetweens. Ive read somewhere the 3 lights of death thing has been fixed in the newer consoles. Bloody hope so!
