you wouldnt be saying that with a mouth full of minced up tree stumps from my CR500's knobby

I'm jealous mate! I would actually love to get my hands on one of those CRE500s that Honda bought out a few years back. There is one on bikepoint.com at the moment but the guy wants $9K for it.

For those who don't know, the CRE 500 is a CR500 motocross bike with an ADR plate, lights, horn and blinkers. Not what you could class as a road bike, these babies are road registerable so that you can compete in Enduro events. The absolute Godzilla of Enduro machines and one scary bit of gear to try and ride!

Nice bike Wes, glad to see you've got good taste in your old age hehe

I had an XR 80 as a kid at Applethorpe and the thing was damn near invincible, considering how little I looked after it. Once the funds build up again, I'll be in the market for something like an XR 250.

As far as trails around the goldy go, there's meant to be a moto-trials track around Canungra somewhere you could always check out.

Otherwise head back to Stanno around Rivertree or Ballandean or the forestry at Paschendale. Around early Feb there's the Greenlands trail ride too which usually pulls a big number of riders.

Blah Blah Blah :tonguepoke: Its is true, they roost pretty good but I learnt not to stay behind one.

My nieghbours CR 500 had alot done to it,Fatty pipe,Filter kit,Carbonfibre reeds and modified reed block, ported head, maximuim oversize piston on a big bore kit.It made well inexcess of high 70rwhp and would pop the front wheel up in 5th gear just chugging along. It was insane.Made stock 500,s look pretty gay but was a mungruel to ride and start.Easierly chopped him around a motorX track on my then 250F yammy(4 stroke) :stirthepot: and spanked even harder on my 450F :tonguepoke: .

He sold it for a KX 450F 4 stroke cause it was a bitch to ride.It was a weapon bike in its time but that's it.Its old school.

The CR 500e you talk of is not a pure blooded CR 500.It runs a modified reed block to smooth the power out and make it more road/trail freindly. The ergo,s are far from the current enduro bikes aswell and once again would be shown up by smaller 2 strokes(ala ktm 300exc) in most conditions with reasonable riders on both. Now im not sh*t canning them. The motor made insane HP but had a crap power band(either on or off)and didnt rev that hard.

I still remember the sound of the old CR 500

TANG TA TANG TANG TANG.Very menacing.

hey guys,

went out again today - im hooked hehe, why the f*ck did I ever get rid of my last dirt bike !!! what a stupid move that was.

went out to the back of the lemans track past coomera today, nice easy riding, lots of mud (which was great) had one small to medium hill climb which I popped a mono half way up and dropped the bike hehe, then me and my mate were trying to get it back down and we were just sliding down on our hands and feet with the bike stuck up the hill, was a pisser, wish I had it on video.

heres the pic from the end of the day. we had about 3 inches of mud right round the bikes. hehe brad on the left (wr450) me on the right (xr400).

yeah, dads been talking to me about rivertree and liston, he went on some 3 day rides up that way, all around killarney and stuff too. I hear theres a bit of difficult sh*t there though. He was on a sh*tty 200 though 15 years ago.

got a couple of mates up that way that would be keen for a ride im sure. havnt been back to stanthorpe in over 5 years, havnt had an excuse to go since now.

im amazed at how much better I can ride this bike compared to my last TT350, stuff that seemed difficult on the tt350 seems a piece of piss on this XR400, im doing sh*t I didnt think I could do, and im only just scratching the surface. Did a log jump today, not a small log, a big one, never done a big one before, first go... over no problems, bit of skin off one leg but I still got over without stacking it.
