If you don't have enough time to scratch your arse try your balls instead.

Checked the turbo out last night and she's spinning free and true without any signs of impeller / housing contact. Just the nasty bearing noise. Do you think she will be ok to drive (taking it easy) for a couple of weeks or am I playing with fire?

Anybody else been down this road?

just take it really easy if you are going to drive it, also, have you checked your oil level, make sure its topped up to give the turbo as much chance of survival as possible, and stay off the boost, if there is no markings on the front houssing, it could be the back(derr!)

it could be the oil supply screen clogged to the max and not letting enough oil through..

mine is making similar noises to what you describe, especially when the car is cold.

that's what it was, the result being a new set of bearings and oil supply pipe.

from where and how much all up if you dont mind me asking?

Turbotec, good guys to deal with.

$1500, however that included around $470 for labour to removal / refit turbo and Mobile 1 Oil / filter change.

thanks for that!

EDIT: not related to the topic but does anyone know whether I could do any more work to the turbo while its out and have the car function normally on the factory tune? like wastegate porting or hi flowing?

cheers
