There's some traffic queued ahead, so I slow down and stop. A second or two later I hear the screaching of tyres then BANG, somebody's crashed into the back of me. So I pull over and get out of the car. Go to the back to inspect the damage expecting the worst. Fortunately the only visible damage is the paint is scratched. I think there could be some damage behind the bumper though because it's very easy to push in with your hand. Anyway, I exchanged details with the other driver then continued on my way. When I reported the accident to the police on Sunday, I discovered an interesting fact... the guy that hit me is a cop!About 3 or 4 hours later, I was accelerating from a set of traffic lights, when there was a bang and my car would no longer accelerate, just made clunking noise. So pull over (ironically only about 100m from dealer where I purchased the car). Rang up Roadside Assistance and got a tow. Was supposed to be towed to their depot and then to the dealer.I rang up the dealer Monday morning, no car. Rang up in the afternoon, no car. So I called Roadside Assistance again to find out where it is. "Oh, we've got it down as going to Dealer X" (I'll try to avoid putting dealer names in here.) So the girl at Roadside Assistance phoned them to confirm my car was there, then phoned me back to let me know that it was. So at this stage, I'd finally located my car.I rang up Dealer X this morning. "We're looking at it now". Rang them up this afternoon. "Ford have never heard of this happening before, we need you're ok to pull it apart to find exactly what's broken. It might not be covered by warranty." (Note that this is a summary of what he said.) I should have asked about why it might not be covered by warranty at the time, but I didn't think of it. I'm hopeful that they just want to check that it hasn't had any mods made (which it hasn't) or some simple explanation like this. I'm starting to get annoyed though at how long it's taking for anything to happen.I'll keep you all posted as to what happens...

Hope there is no serious damage and the other fella coughs up for the repairs. Get it checked thoroughly before you let him off the hook. On the breakdown, keep us posted sounds serious....Surely it WILL be covered by warranry as long as the car is not modified

Unless they think the rear-ender had something to do with the fault but it sounds relatively minor if only the bumper was damaged. Hope you get it all fixed up soon and don't have to fork out any cash.

It will be interesting to find out what the Dealer says....? I am a little perplexed as to why he would say that "this may not be covered by warranty "without having a good look at the car. Hope everthing gets sorted out for ya.

Guest kryzak260 Guests Posted 18/06/03 02:50 AM Share Posted 18/06/03 02:50 AM When you say a clunking, is it coming from the front or the back of the car? When the other car hit you, its possible he nudged something behind the bumper which hit your diff (and shagged it if the noise is coming from the back) or hit the diff and nudged the entire drivline along (shagging your gearbox or engine itself if the clunk is from the front). I hate to say it, but a hit up the arse or in the nose that affects your driveline, usually means you car will never be the same :( :nugget:
