Hello Dave

Me again from Albury

Leather is fine - my third leather car wouldn't have anything but.

I'm getting tinted windows in mine and that will help. Always has.

Feels good and keeps clean.

Thanks raoulc for the info. Just what I was wanting to hear. I'll keep the leather. :D

BTW next time I'm in Albury, I hope I'll be driving an XR6T. So if you see a blueprint turbo parked at Country Comfort early 2003, It's a good bet it's me.

Damn it looks good! Have ya got any that might be nice for a wallpaper?

Drop me a PM and I'll email all the shots I've taken of my car - you can pick out whichever one you want that way.

Does everyone know that you can't use metallic tints on the rear window? The audio system uses on-glass-antenna so any metallic film cocvering it will screen out your radio reception. Even dye tints could degrade your reception. AM degradation will always be worse than FM because the FM signal can bridge tiny gaps in the antenna matrix. AM stops dead with any gaps and is more susceptible to antenna orientation problems, connections, etc.

Leather interior is very good if a little warm on hot days. The aircon is much better than AU3 so cooling is significantly faster. Did you know that the leather interior is not all leather? This is because if you had leather on the lower inner parts of the seat, it would squeak and creak every time you move. It's a combination of leather and mock leather to give you the feel, comfort and appearance. Very high tech.

It is s shame they do not colour code the XR badge in the seat to the outside colour. I'd love to see carpet mats, gear knob leather, and steering wheel inserts with exterior accent colours. Anyone else got a wish list?

Thanks for the info anthoc.. I knew about the Metallic Tint on rear window.. this was sent out as a Ford Bulletin and all major companies doing Tint for the BA know of this. (or should know of it)

As for the leather had no idea.. As for your wish list sounds exactly what were after for the Series II... Listen up FORD! :)

A close friend of mine on the inside tried to get colour coding of carpet mats, gear knob, etc but she wasn't able to convince management. If Ford have a suggestion box on their web site, that's where we should all be submitting our ideas. They do listen. Believe me, I know.

Yeah Anthoc,

A bit more colour coding would finish things off. We have a phantom interior but had to go with blue trimmed XR mats as Phantom isnt available.

Bloody bean counters ;)

Anyone want to see the upgraded brake option. Brembos are not available (at least they weren't when I ordered in July) so I took the upgraded brake option. They are made by PBR who also supply the standard brakes. Correct me if I am wrong but they only fit in the 18"? I don't know for sure because I have the 18". The rears seem to be fairly standard but they have the swirl groove in the disc as well. The rear caliper seems to be closer to the standard rear than the front one.
