If you want to target 440-500rwk then the TO4Z is a good way to go.

I know a few guys on this forum using it with good success at the above power level; they have manuals, and substantial mods to go with it of course.

I you want say 400 to 440rwkw that would probably be a bit of an overkill, and most guys go with a ported variant of the stock turbo with larger compressor cover.

I haven't heard many reports of what others are using.

perhaps somthing like a gt4088r aswell... just make sure its a ball bearing turbo and id try and keep to the water cooling type aswell.

if you do some research on turbo theory you will find your best solution is pick a horsepower level that you want to achieve.... this almost solely dictates your choice in turbo and unfortunaely, you cant make a choice that will do everything or leave `headroom` for future mods or power increases unless your prepared to live with lots of lag and all or nothing power delivery. ie sh*t streetability... there is no magic wand here (apart from variable geometry turbos but you dont want to go there!!!)

so first you need to pick a horsepower level that you want to achieve. may I suggest 450-480rwkw. I say this because anymore is pretty much unuseable on street tyres (you will wheel spin through 160km/h in 4th gear at this level) and any less can be achived on the factory turbo (wheel spin through first 3 gears). this way to can move up to only a slightly larger turbo and have very little lag, or better said, a relatively low `boost threshold` for great streetability...

Thanks guys that was a help. I will have to make up my mind about how much power I really want.

450rwkw is 600rwhp in the old money.......that kinda has a nice ring to it :w00t2:

If you just keep working on these things you eventually get all the answers....

I took Groper's advice and buried myself in some turbo theory for a bit which was hard work but helped my understanding of the variables. And I have taken on what he and BCL have said about chosing my goal power level and decided that unless I run out of cash first ( always a risk factor) I will fit a TO4Z.

Brad @ Spool Imports got me a 50mm Turbonetics wastegate at a great price so that's sorted.

Gavin.K gave me some great info on his experience.

What I have to find out now is which exhaust housing size to go with? Would love to get feedback from anyone who runs one on their boost curve and what housing they run. Dyno sheets would be fatastic- perhaps PM if you don't want them public?

Thanks Guys

Good to see some poeple here realize that T04Z is just a name... there's huges one's and small one's, you have to know what your doing when choosing the specs to meet your goals.

Things to consider... max psi, max rpm, minimum spool rpm, max boost rpm ect ect.

The results can be so varied that all you can hope for is a turbo that comes close to you ideal power delivery.

exactly.. a t04z comes in different turbine sizes so get one in 84 or even less if u want psycho torque.. might lose a little top end but seriously who cares, if its a daily driven street car ask yourself which rpm band you spend most your time in.
