Hi guys,

Just interested to know people's thought on cat gutting. On a standard exhaust how much loder will it make it??

Someone said flames will shoot out the back of the car but I find this very hard to believe. My mate has a V8 Late model camira with no cat and he certainly doesn't have flames shooting out the back.

It will relieve a lot of pressure on the valve springs correct??

It's something to consider for those on an extremely tight budget......

Anyone done it?? What is the sound like?? It still goes through 2 mufflers after the cat anyway which should keep it quiet...correct me if I'm wrong....

its more the reak of raw unburnt fuel coming out of your exhaust pipe that pisses most ppl off rather than the noise, remember there is a big fine if you get caught though, and yes, it will be louder

Illegal and stupid, If you cant afford to mod don't do it at all.

On a non edited car, the reduction in back pressure will cause overboost and send the ECU into limp mode.

Save your dollars and do it properly.

Yes it will be growl more at full throttle but isnt that loud. You will notice a bit of fuel smell after a bit of a canning when you pull up at lights but didnt bother me.I had a full APS system on and the cat melted on it so I gutterd it.Never got fined or caught. If I did I would have replaced it then.

If you do it just remember to custom tune it mate as it will affect you boost.

Thanks guys and thanks FPV Tranny...it's always good to get the low down from someone who has done it :spoton:

Definately better to do it properly if you can afford it though. I will probably do it properly but just wanted some peoples opinions....
