howdy,

I just bought an xr6 turbo yesterday and am already looking to modifying it. I have around $3000 to spend on mods at the moment.

I've been quoted $1700 for a flash tuner installation, custom tune and an f6 CAI. Is this too much coz I know the flash tuners go for $600 brand new so that leaves $1100 just for installation, tune and CAI. is this too much or is it about right coz it seems expensive? its been quoted by one of teh tuning shops from the forums but I won't say which one as I think they're overcharging. you tell me as I'm inexperienced in this area.

Anyway its going in on saturday to another place to get the centre muffler removed and maybe a bigger dump pipe installed. Is this the best way to go to get a better, more aggressive sound from my exhaust without having to spend over $1000 on a full exhaust system? thanks guys.

I picked up a tuner on Friday with 2 generic tunes on friday for $700 - New

I bought a F6 CAI through one of the members here for $70 inc postage

And I'm planning to get a custom tune in two weeks, I was quoted $600

And everybody here will say the tuning costs will vary. The place and person who I'm planning to see has very good recommendation form this form. Plus, a mate at work who uses this guy's dyno also told me he'll tune the car until it right.

So moral is don't rush in, get a few recommendations from the guy here and tell them where you are and your sure to find a better price than that

Timmy

When flash tuners where going for a $1000 you could get the box and a custom tune for $1400, so that quote is way high.
