I am looking at buying a BA hard lid. I have found a damaged one and was woundering how hard is it to fix the damage. Has anyone done much fibre glass work before if so any pointers or cost of getting it fixed professionally. I will have to paint a new hardlid anyway so I am trying to find a second hand lid. the damage dosnt look that bad.

where abouts is it damaged?

fibreglass is a bit of a pain to work with but its all about the finish you give it and prep before you get it resprayed. I would prob advise ringing a few boat builders and try and get a quote.

it would be hard to give anymore advice without knowing whats actually damaged on it.

Hey I smashed my hard lid pretty bad I took one of the rear corners off, I went to a boat builer who just by chance did a lot of stuff for v8 super car body kits and he charged me $50 cash. took him no time at all and you would never know.

that would just be a patch and prep job then your respray. Wouldnt be structural (I doubt hard lids would have much structural support anyway)

should be a cheap repair or you could have a crack at it yourself for fun although for something that small the cost of getting all the materials to begin with prob isnt worth it

Hey guys, just joined, I made the mistake last week of opening my hardlid with one hand on the right hand side and cracked it right down the parallel join...... so if you find any cheap glassies, let me know. Oh and im a tradie looking to "actually" use my ute as the occasional timber carrier, so if there are any innovative suggestions on how to use racks in combo with a hard top please let me know....photos up soon
