It was wet and windy here in Perth today. I had my BF ute parked outside my office and the wind had opened my hard cover (not locked) not once but 4 times. I thought at first someone had opened it - parking area locked under security and visible from my office, after closing it I saw it happened again. Has any one experienced this.

your gas struts must nearly lift the lid themselves. Lock it. Mine it takes a lot of pushing to raise it and I don't normally lock it, it stays closed at highway speeds.

I often forget to lock my lid and after 18 months of owning the car it has never even looked like opening by itself. The seal is great and as someone else said it takes good effort to lift it....this is how it should be

it says in the book to never drive with it unlocked..

mine opens at will if it's left unlocked for more than 5 mins.

I thought the whole point of getting the hard cover was so you could lock it? :spoton:

Yea I've had this happen to me...

Right in the middle of a Hwy intersection mind you.. Good thing it was around 2 in the morning. lol.

It took one heck of alot of wind coming up from behind to bring it up though, definitely wasn't expecting it

Try putting the gas struts the other way around.

Bulky part towards the top so the thinner part attaches to the body not the lid.
