Hi all,

Has anyone tried entering a dragway or track with a leased vehicle registerd a state government agency? I pay my car's lease and have a 100% right to private use. However the car is registered as being owned by a state government department.

I'd like to do a quarter mile at the Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID). However the WSID website says you need written permission to do it from the registered owner, specifying the date to be used. I think it would be a complex and laborious process to get permission from the department.

Any tips or experiences with this?

Cheers,

Walker

You won't have any issues taking the car to wsid.

Just take the plates off, all they need is your licence don't worry about the other jargon it doesn't relate to you.

I know of some leading one of the compact classes that a hire car was used for all races but Jambaree.

So I guess it can be done.

There have been a couple of time's I've gone in with someone where they've checked the Registration paperwork for proof of ownership, so sometime's taking the plate's off doesn't work.

That's only good for avoiding Ford "Warranty cancelling" type guy's.

I went with my plates covered, but I had a letter and rego papers.

He took a quick look at the car and asked me to take the baby seat out of the back.

They did not look at the papers or rego and hardly checked the car as it was still new (4,000km)

They could have given it a once over as I was early and the only one in the screwt bay at the time.

You should be right, I would give it a go and type up a letter on state gov letter head and sign it Morris Iemma.

Thanks for all your advice guys.

I got an official reply from WSI Dragway which basically gives me the green light to enter my car!

The web site needs a major update and hopefully in the near future that will

happen. The ownice is all on your shoulders in regards to you entering your

leased car at any street meet held here at WSID. Although you must realize

that if you have an incident on the racing surface no insurance policy will

cover the cost of repairs. Although you sign an indemnity form as a

competitor this is for you as a competitor only.

"

Good news!
