Fitted the lower snorkel this afternoon and indeed the measurements and instructions provided in the other part of this forum are spot on. I am your average motoring enthusiast punter and not overly mechanically minded...just have common sense...have to say it went together like a charm.

Two tips for anyone contemplating fitting the lower snorkel.

Fit the lower snorkel into place under the lights first without the air box. But make sure you spray WD40 on outside of the snorkel and it will slide into the gap like knife through butter...otherwise it can be a bit difficult. Then bolt in the air box and push the snorkel into place (third bolt is not that difficult to get to and tighten with the right tools). If you cut the hole in the air box exactly right, the snorkel will go in no worries.

Also I guessed that the radius in the corners of the hole in the airbox when you mark it out before cutting was similar size to a five cent piece (I used it as a template). Even though it was fine....I think the size of a ten cent is more accurate. As it says somewhere else in this forum...don't mark and cut out sharp 90deg corners as it will look a bit bodgy.

Happy snorkelling!!

Just completed this mod to my xt6t. Took it for a spin. Loving it. K&N filter arrives next week, so will see how it all goes then.

Measurements were a blessing.... Karma +1 :B):

I installed mine recently too.

Made a nice little increase with k&n done at same time.

Especially after driving around standard for the last three years untill warranty ran out.

Definately feeling the better top end in the manual.

snorkel arrived yesterday afternoon and its going in this weekend once dad brings in the dremel from his work. for the boys who used the dremel what speed did you use? is there danger of cracking the airbox if the speed is too low/too high? I heard somewhere that when cutting certain plastics if the speed is too high or too low (cant remember which one but I think its too low) it can crack. never really done any handy work before (not really much of a handy man but with all the measurement praise this seems idiot proof) and this will be the first hands on project on the car (air filter and top snorkel hardly count lol), quite pumped!

intalled it yesterday without a single hassle (also used the dremel) somehow. I was initially quite scared of doing this myself as ive never touched a power tool before, but it was good fun, saved some cash, the car sounds heaps better and fuel economy gets down to ridiculous numbers such as 0.2l /100k on the hills. measurements were great thanks for posting them!

only thing I would add is I did this during a mildly windy and dusty day so I covered the top half of the box with a plastic bag to be 100% safe and not let anything through, especially since I thought I might take a while due to my inexperience. third bolt was also no hassle all you gota do is really shove that bottom snorkle as far as you can under the headlight, place the box down and there should be plenty of space. I took some photos ill try upload but ive never uplaoded anything on this site before so not sure how thatll work out...

in short, great fun way to save money and improve your cars sound and economy. and with the posted measurements, you cant go wrong!

I just installed one for my car just then. Only took around 30 mins if that and I'm not that mechanically minded or good with tools but got it in perfectly. Just took the car for a spin then you really notice the improvement the throttle seems more responsive and turbo winds up quicker kept spinning the wheels, to used of the old throttle response love it. Recommend this as a first upgrade for all.
