Well, all I can say is what I have experienced.

With the BOV to Atmosphere it had quite a bit of lag when changing gears driving normal and thrashing. Now it is very responsive when changing to the next gear. Also my idle is alot smoother as well as the power curve.

One thing I noticed is that the outlet of the BOV was a little dusty which could possibly mean some dust could and would have been 'inhaled'.

My guess is that the intake pipe now does not loose its pressure when releasing that throttle, even though the turbo probably slows down quicker, it spins up quite fast and the pipes already have good pressure.

This is my POV and do not wish this thread to end in debates. The reason I have done this is that many people are running no BOV with a lot of ks with no damage. Once many turbos start failing then I might change my mind.

Cheers

Adrian

PS. Its not hard to do so try it yourself and tell me about your findings.

I found the car spools up slower because it has to release the back pressure before it can spool up.. where as the plumbed back BOV puts the air back before the turbo, reducing the slowing effect of the air rushing back through it.

that's what my butt dyno told me anyway!

it makes a nice sound @ 2psi+ gear changes though lol

Aaron, did you notice any difference on the 6speed auto in terms of more or less lag at all?

(Not that our superior auto boxes have any lag anyway... hehe :spoton: )

why would Ford put a BOV on if it's not necessary?

Simon from Nizpro put up a great write up on their function a while ago. Have a search for it. Good read. Basically its more of an emmissions thing...
