I like to say you get what u pay for and I wouldnt spend cheaply especially on performance brakes or handling products. With the coilovers I would prefer to spend that little bit more and get Teins or I know HSD are bringing some out later in the year which alot of people use. When I had my silvia I saw to many things go wrong with mates cars who had bought the cheaper versions of products. But that's just my opinion anyway. Yer so does anyone know of these kits on xr6t's? Ive never heard of "g4" before so I'm a little sceptical. Are they a good 8 piston caliper ie better than say an ap 6 piston or is it just marketing hype? Cheers, Brad
ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 21y 8d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 04/09/07 11:09 PM Share Posted 04/09/07 11:09 PM I would not put my life on the line for "cheap" Chinease brakes. You can have a 200 piston caliper, but if they fail, you could be dead. The PBR (Premo) Brakes would suit 99% of peoples needs or the Brembo package on the FPV's. Both could be purchased second hand for less than the G4's.Getting the G4's could also make your car unroadworthy as your ABS is not designed to pump up large calipers like the G4's. This could result in unusaul ABS behaviour.
Guest Guests Posted 05/09/07 12:25 AM Share Posted 05/09/07 12:25 AM Depends how big the pistons are aswell, I honestly couldn't see them being larger than the 6 pot brembo piston's (combined diameter). I enquired about running an 8 pot brembo caliper on my car as I found 2 brand new front set's for $18oo a set. BSM said that the only issue I would face was if I ran a 385mm disc like I planned such a large disc can warp & could push the piston into the caliper, leaving a real soft pedal on the first pump. They reccomended I ran a 38mm thick disc to combat this but they were about $3oo more per disc than the 32mm wide disc's. They never mentioned that the larger 8 pot caliper would cause a drama with abs system, they did however tell me it was overkill lol.
