My BA Turbo started missing under load, the car was driveable if I feed the gas slowly, but under load it was making less power than a Barra Gas motor. I replaced the sparkplugs (plugs in the car were only 35k old) using the expensive plugs as specified. This appeared to fixed the problem about 98%, but she still had a slight miss at high revs. I drove the car for the next 2 weeks & the problem seemed to go away, so I thought it was cured. Jumped in the car to drive to work one day & the miss was back - Doh! Took it to Ford & they replaced no 1 & 4 coils. Car is like new & appears to be more responsive than before the miss happened. Replacement coils are $75 each from Ford, lucky the old girl still has warranty, so Ford covered the cost. Car has 148k on the clock. Hope this may help someone with the same issues.

Sounds like you have an underlying issue that seems to be fouling your plugs but that is only a guess. If you still under warrenty get the underlying issue fixed and not let Ford Bandaid the issue (I love the word Bandaid used in that context)!!!! :doyou:

Thanks for this mate, its a great help, my ute has been doing this for a while. Missing under load and hard acceleration. I just replaced the spark plugs this afternoon, and took it for a quick squirt tonight. Just like you described, fixed the missing, and pickup was back to where it used to be, but still seems to me missing slightly at high revs and like you say has only fixed the problem about 98%. I dont really want to go to Ford as they always seem to rob me of my money and fix nothing. Is there any way of finding out which coils are crook short of replacing them all???

Cheers Mike,

Yep did excatly what you've said, bought a set of six on ebay for $180, non genuine ones but supposed to be pretty good according to the ad.

Put them in thismorning and also changed the fuel filter while I was at it.

Just took it for a run and its that much better, I couldnt believe it. Well worth the $180 and I feel so much better off knowing that its fixed than taking it to ford and wondering what they will try and charge me this time.

Thanks
