Hey just thought I'd say the c9 can be made quite steetable and are a bit old school yes but if built right are just awsome at wot & also if the conversion is done by the right people it can be made to look very complimentry when the B&M shifter is fitted nice Eg. With the genuine shifter cover & matching leather boot. Also with the full manuel valve body you vertually have your tiptronic action feel about it.Also This conversion can be done right for around 7 grand.By the time you rebuild 2 4 speeds ( which is not uncommon ) your vertually there. But I will say fuel economy will change & vary depending on convertor size ect.Hope this helps on your decision making.

Sounds very familiar Danny!!!

Yeah I do agree, done properly the c9 is a great box and can look decent as said, ive had mine for a little while now and loving it.... :stirthepot:

I've been hearing the 3 speeds ain't all they've been cracked up to be.

Im considering doing a ZF conversion in my BA, but I haven't had a chance to see how reliable they are at the 350rwkw power levels! (Anybody know from experience?)

No point rebuilding your gearbox for 2500+ every 20,000kms when you could do the ZF for 8-9k and not have to worry about it for 80,000kms, anybody had a ZF rebuilt?

I spoke to a transmission specialist enquiring for a ZF conversion and they said the 6 Speed's aint all that either as

quiet a few had failed and were very expensive to repair as you would expect...

A ZF conversion would cost about the same for a C9 conversion would and although it the [c9] consumes a bit more fuel,

they are however unbreakable?? Im still enquiring but yeh id have a ZF or a C9 anyday over a 4 Speed :stirthepot:

I have a c4 in my car and I love it the fuel economy isn't great the weight of the car is the killer if I had my time all over again I would go a glide bigger clutches more reliable if you plan to leave with with big rpm on the transbrake good luck to you
