well thanks to everyone who has replied. I just want you to know I dont drive my car hard at all. I just like to have the power on tap when needed. I am 36 years old and drive conservatively(compared to you guys I am sure) most of the time so hopefully my transmission and motor wont be affected to much.

Mate I'm 34 and drive within the rules most of the time, thing is you just can't help yourself, wait and see. If the tuner tweaked the auto to make faster shifts it will be fine. Injectors are probably at their limit so if you want more grunt you will need newies.

245kw is well with in the scope of the standard injectors, you can cruise all day, everyday with that tune.

Careful though modding is a very slippery slope with this cars.

Tell me about it!!! I flashed an F6 calibration into my xr6t today at work, just for a little fun (gonna flash it back tomorrow as ABS TC and DSC dont work due to different ABS modules, also oil light stays on due to diff senders) but its given me a nice tease, especially since I have a flash tuner from my last car sitting 2m from me right now

yeah well I am not doing anything else to the car except changing the suspension. I know if I change one more thing I will need to change 4 others which I dont have the money to do.

Ok that changes things... Mate being one of the older blokes like me you would want to makes sure that

1. The car is not running too lean (this could lead to big problems in the future) and

2. Make sure you are not pushing the stock internals such as the injectors and valve springs to their limit as these will reduce their shelf life and cost you more in the long run.

I am not the most mechanically educated on the forum but this is my view. Owning a BA we don't have the luxury of the stronger bottom end and stronger valve springs like the BF's.

And also Power is like Money, the more you have the more you use ...

:spoton:

Ozzie

What changed between the two models? Based on that...is it better to buy a BF for the extra $5000 - $7000 they cost compared to a BA?

Mate spend the $5000 and get a BF with a 6spd. Trust me. You get stronger top and bottom end.

The pros can elaborate.
