*sigh*

I think we got away from the original point.

Or I didn't explain myself well enough :-)

The original point was that Ford know good quality plastics, they used it in my AUII. It looks the same as the day I drove it away in 2000, and it has a nice look/feel as well as being sturdy.

I'm not comparing the BA to other brands, but to recent FORDS!

My point was, they know what works, but they made a decision to do something different in a couple of areas.

You look at some of the posts here that agree about the finish, yet they still bought the car. Looks like I'm going to be in the same boat which makes you more angry that they didn't get it right.

I'm a lot less critical of faults in commodores BECAUSE I'M NOT ABOUT TO BUY ONE!!!!!!!

olcoolone I agreed with a fair bit of what you said in your other post, maybe it was the way you said it ;)

I agree with those thoughts of both olcoolone & Mac_Dude.

Ford has an awful lot to be proud of with the current crop of XR's, but.....

I for one wasn't real impressed with the crappy boot carpet & it's lack of 'finish'. Sometimes it is the little things that complete a car. The difference between a high quality product & just good quality.

And when you do hand over $50K, it would have been nice to have not noticed those little finishing touches! In other words, if those little things had been done, there wouldn't have been anything to winge about!

Maybe it's semi-intentional, as it just encourages the buying public to spend more at Ford....I did.....I bought the plastic/rubber boot liner & the Fairmont boot lid liner to finish off the boot. AND I got 2 lots of sound-proofing felt from Supercheap Auto aswell....

Now I've got noth'n to complain about......for now!!!!! :D
