Mate, What you have done is remove about 60% of the restriction in the factory exhaust. This will cause the car to go into limp mode as the motor will not behave to factory spec and the ECU does not like that.

As mentioned above, you either need to restrict the exhaust or Edit the ECU/piggyback. There is no other majic fix.

Also removing the CAT is a BIG nono, as the EPA can easily see that it is not there. If someone high flows the cat, they generally gut them so it looks like it is still there.

When the cops smell the exhaust or see flames come out the tailpipe, they will slap a $10,000+ fine on you.

Yes, the emmisions laws are alot different in NZ... removing the cat is the most common mod done over there.

You'll need to get an edit tune to control the boost ( keep it down )... or an MBC if you know what your doing.

thank you all for your comments. yes the laws are different over here. I had been told that I will have to get it edited now, as I had planed, but just after I took it out I got slaped with a $12,000 GST bill so was hoping somebody out there might know a tempery fix. O well. Looks like I will just have to work harder and earn some more money. cheers.

Hi mate, dunno if this would help in your situation but I have heard of people who after being pulled up for noise pollution and have to go to the testing facility to remove a defect sticker they have just go a bag of steel wool and tied a peice of wire around it then shoved it up the end of the exhaust, then once the test has been done use a long peice of hard wire with a hook and fish it out. dont know if it'd work ain't tried it my self but you would think it would create some back pressure might have to experiment with how much etc. P.S if you try it I take no responsibilty, some steel wool may even glow red, melt, cause a fire or cause other 02 sensor, AFR problems, who knows, but might just work too???

Obviously putting a cut out cat with no flanges etc and welding it back in would be a pain but other than putting it back or the steel wool yup you'll need an edit box and custom tune.
