Why Modify

I picked up my XR6 Turbo on Monday. - Its got everything. Manual, 18in wheels, premium sound, leather trim, sunroof, alarm (well paid for it but still not available), sports steering - blah blah balh

240watts, sounds great so why even think of adding to that. I see some people talking about increasing the power of the turbo. Ford limited it to 240 because of the gearbox and other components that would not take further additions to power.

I love my car and so does everyone who stops and has a look. Doing anything to the car could not enhance it any further and may even detract from it.

Well, once you've gotten use to your brand new toy, you might find that you get the bug. It's like when I use to live in the Northern Territory - doing 180km/h on a regular basis was just the norm, and going back to 100, let alone 60 seemed ridiculously slow.

Mind you, as a stock street car it's an excellent all-round package and while the temptation might be there, the need certainly isn't.

As for the 240KW, the gearbox thing I suspect was a deliberate ploy to ensure that the XR6T didn't out do the XR8. If Ford really wanted to, there would be no problem getting the XR6T to withstand more power - just use more components from the XR8 or the GT!

believe it or not, I asked myself why modify cars? what's the point?

I couldn't think of the answer but I still feel the need to splurge more money on my car. hehe

Hmmm.... I think the answer to your question will be found when you plant your foot and feel that rush of acceleration. You then start thinking to yourself "I wonder if I could get just a little bit more..." It's not that the stock is bad, it's just that you want more of what it's got to offer.

This is so true and it's not just cars!!

When I first drove my AUXR8 I thought wow, and after a short time I was thinking, well it would be nice to have more.

I also picked up myself a 135hp Jet Ski, and WOW this thing goes from 0-50kph in 1.8 secs, and 0-80kph in less than 3 secs. It actually does 98kph on the speedo (be about 100k's but) and now, 12 months later I want more

It is in mans nature to be greedy and im greedy ask urself the question why not buy a standard xr6 at 182kw that's still got plenty why go turbo? I have a drag car .it doz 10 seconds down the quarter feels like nothing nowadays first pass though I sh*t myself ... THE SKYS THE LIMIT and if its in the blood to go fast then thy shall be done if u r content with what u have then be happy and live with it but if it is in your nature to do better and be more successful then your determination and greed for that takes over
