I just thought I'd share the following with you guys, might save some people some money! Well, it was the best deal I could find in the 1 and half days of searching!

well, with my 2 year contract coming to an end with telstra, I went phone shopping yesterday. Had a few phones in mind, but I really liked the look and feel of the N95.

Anyway, after going to several places, and prices ranging from $25-$48 on top of a $49 or $79 cap, I finally found a good deal today! Well, it was the best out of all the places I've been.

It's through vodafone direct deals. I called up the local vodafone shop, but they couldn't even match the price.

Basically, I'm on a $79 cap with $550 worth of calls, and 100 free SMS, using the N95. All other shops wanted at least $25 on top of the cap to be able to keep the N95.

So, with insurance of around $8 per month, my total monthly bill will be $87.. considering I was going to go on a $49 cap and pay $27 for the phone, I think I've scored a good deal.

Here's the link if anyones interested, I did it all over the phone - took about 10-15mins.

Best of all, if I want to cancel my plan it's simply half the cost of the cap multiplied by how many months are left on the contract :smilesandbanana:

so even if I cancelled after one day, I'd still get the phone for under $1000.. this deal is only valid till 26/8/07 though.

Yeah mate they can be a costly little phone, im tied to Telstra and they currently dont offer any deals apparently with the N95 apart from just paying it off on a monthly basis, so I had to buy the thing outright........ :buttrock:

But I think they are definitely worth it! Great little phone with more features than you can poke a stick at!

Cheers

that they do... but I was on a telstra business plan paying 9 cents per 30 secs and I got $100 per month of included calls.... every month my bills were betwwen $250 and $350. I took my own phone onto this plan so I did not get a phone out of this.

I then went onto a capped plan at 3..... $149 per month with $1400 worth of included calls... and also free calls to other 3 phones plus free text msgs.. to date I have not been able to spend the whole quota of included calls in the month.

although they slug me with a higher call rate.. .I still save at least $100 month...... and I got the N95 in the deal.

caps can be a great way to go..

when you get the n95, upgrade the firmware immediately to version 12.. Version 10, and 11 suck ARSE!!!

Especially the phone used to hang whilst playing mp3's and after you hung up after a incoming call, the phone "white screened" (same as when you turn the phone on)..

Seems to be resolved in v12 of the firmware..

Ohh, still need to get my speaker changed (not loudspeaker, the one you use to talk), It crackles.. mums n73 also did it.. Maybe a batch of their speakers are crap... At least the "Stereo" loud speakers are good and strong :)

you can upgrade the firmware youself using the nokia software.. Do it before you customise it (cos its essentially formats your phone back to factory defaults)

that may be true.. but, at present I am on a $60 a month plan with telstra, and my phone bills are usually between $80-$130 per month. So, even with the higher call rate (which isn't that much higher) I still have to rack up over $550 worth of calls before it starts costing me anymore then $87. For me, it was the better option.. I probably could have just gone on a straight out $49 cap, and still be streets ahead, but I wanted a new toy :stupid:

Cheers for that mate, I'll make sure I do it as soon as I get the phone :spoton:
