reason I commented on this is... for some reason elite always dyno your cars in 3rd? why? to me it seems that you want the cars to show a higher output than they are really achieving... im sure your customers are happy when they THINK they are getting great results! the standard is to do them in as close to 1:1 as possible which is 4th on both the xr6t manual and zf auto... last time I asked you this you said somthing about not wanting to overspeed the dyno :spoton: whats the story?

with the mods listed there is no doubt that this power is achievable on a quick one off dyno pull even in 4th, but that's beside the point... if this power is quoted from a 3rd gear dyno pull as it is, the math says that it wont make 300+rwkw in 4th... not being able to back it up with consecutive pulls or with a slower ramp rate due to heat soak is another seperate issue...

Fair call, Paul.... but I've always requested my vehicles to be base lined on pulls using the gear closest to 1:1 for consistencies sake. Many tuners may run up support on this being an "accepted standard" - but I'll go back to my beer and the footy. Go the Cowboys..... how good is Matty Bowen??

One things for sure though - the ZF is the goods. Good work, and well done on the numbers !

I dont know why you are getting so worked up about the math!

At the end of the day the base line is done in 3rd.......so there is your before figure.

The final is in third........hence the difference!

Finally the cars are running the times at the drags......end of story!

Cheers Paul

so what do you mean by this... (from the other thread on dyno testing the zf)

Yep made a mistake we actually do them in third because the dyno can go into over speed in 4th.

Sorry for the bum steer.

Cheers Paul

im still trying to figure this out... :pooh:

just add my two cents worth for what it is worth,

when I run cars with the 6 speed auto, I run it in 3rd, the reason I use for this is the car has 2.7 gears, so the speed in 3rd is very close to 4th in a manual 6 speed, which has 3.7 diff gears,

ok I would like to run in as close to 1-1 as possible but 3rd in the 6speed auto is the main gear for the drags, it goes to about 160kph, just like 4th in the manual.

this changes when the torque starts getting to much for 3rd, and it smokes the tyres,

then I step up to 4th, and also 5th in the manual.

this can help a car with a small intercooler to produce a higher figure, but this can be over come by a slow ramp rate.
