What Clamps To Change?

Only problem I have at the moment is grip, all this power and I'm having trouble laying it on the road as the first 3 gears are useless on the STD dunlops I'm running at the moment.

Saving as much as I can now, so the rims can go on with the better tyres! ASAP

Now I'm off to bed. :funnydance:

Maybe its an Auto thing? Cuase the Manual blokes dont have as much trouble

Happens to both, manuals are not immune.

First time mine poped was just after my car was first tuned. I was out testing the new tune late at night on a deserted back road.

Doing a couple of full power runs, hit 3rd and there was a loud pop and then all power went out of the car. It still ran ok but it had the power of an 82 carolla.

I new about the weak clamp but had not gotten around to changing it. So after I pulled over this was the first thing I checked and found the pipe had come off as I thought.

Getting that pipe back on was a right Ba5tard, it was pitch black so I barely see anything, just used what light was coming off the head lights and everthing was still super hot.

So after 20mins of swearing and being scorched by the radiator hose I get the little bugger on, no longer in a good mood I called it a night and head home.

Ditched the wire clamp the next day and have not had a problem since.

Trust me guys change it now, while the car is cool, there is plenty of light and you have the right tools.

other wise its going to get you at the worst possible time.

that's what im trying to avoid. I overtake a lot from work to home. I cant afford to lose power when cars are coming at me. You are lucky you were in a backstreet. I totally agree mate.

So how much Boost were you running?

with the kpm boxes you only get capa generic tunes. loaded mine up yesterday and omfg, it pulls big time!!

need new plugs but (mine is a ba) as it is breaking up pretty bad with the foot buried on 10psi. using the 8psi tune at the moment and as long as I dont fully punch it it goes awesome! picking up some new plugs this evening because mine are 75k old.

havent had long to test mine but have had no troubles with clamps. I can see why the pipe from under the battery to the tb will be the problem one as it just has a dodgy metal spring one with no bolt to tighten. you can get clamps from supercheap, but they only stock 3" ones last time I checked, and im guessing that pipe is only 2.5".

if you are in rockingham mate, come over and I'll show you what to look for!

You inspired me to check my hose clamps and I found some issues. I always run around on 8psi with the once a moth cruise at 10psi. The 2 hose clamps closest to the Turbo were fairly loose and ive tightend them back up. Some other clamps were ok, however they are hexagonal bolts not normal screw driver stuff so I cant play with them.

How tight should the clamps be, as some of mine were fairly easy to tighten back up???

And whats the issue with BF spark plugs?

haha that's awesome. ok im convinced now!

I emailed KPM last nite and he said for me to call this morning as they only have a few left at $595.

Well I changed all the hoses that I could see that had a wire clamp and tighten all the other clamps. Now I just need the CAPA box.
