as some of you might know, 12 months ago I had my car tuned and a few more mods done at HP-F to break the 300kw barrier.

I ended up with P1- Low boost tune 250kw P2- High Boost 98 tune 290kw P3- High boost 98 +octane boost race tune 328kw.

Well it happened, Only to be with some set-backs such as my fuel gauge not working correctly, and my cruise control taking off like a rocket! All this was noticed the day after picking the car up from HPF and making the 700+km journey back home, to late to return due to work commitments and the Mrs twisting my nuts harder by the second.....

I rang HP-F when I got back to mildura, spoke about the issues and they said send the box back.

I sent it back twice both time with no luck, and was told " we need to see the car again"......

WELL...

After a 12 month license loss (My Bad :tonguepoke:), I contacted HP-F to have these issues rectified. Dwayne booked me in and I made the journey down.

MONDAY: Arrived at HP-F, went over specifics of problems with Dwayne such as gauge reading incorrect since fuel pump install, and cruise control not working on all 3 tunes.

I also asked for some specifics the year earlier in tuning aspects that I never received, such as where I wanted boost and such, so I gave HP-F some specifics AGAIN for one of my P2 slot to be how it shouldve been in the first place, My P1 and P3 were to remain the same.

I said goodbye to my car, left HPF and thanks to ENVY-T took me to where I was staying.

TUESDAY: Arrived at HP-F with Fat-Tony to pick my car up.. Got the report that all problems were fixed which I was happy about EXCEPT the fact that ALL the specifics I gave WERE NOT carried out!

ALL my slots were wiped meaning I lost the $500+ worth of tunes I payed for the year earlier, even my P3 race tune which didnt need to be touched at all.

I asked WTF and was told "Our tuner's gone home for the day, he didnt read the specifics as noted and we dont know why, but you have 2 new tunes."

WELL how happy was I!? my favourite tunes GONE and that's not the best part!!!

My car arrived monday morning with 328kw... Tuesday arvo after "Re-tuning" I had a max figure of 287kw!!!!!!!

I felt like I had been kicked in the guts as I had just wasted a whole trip, I wasnt happy with the results one bit! The reasons given for the low power: My Nizpro valve springs had gone soft and started to float at 5600rpm onwards AND my Bosch 968's were MAXED OUT!!!

I wasnt told by hpf but it doesnt take a genius to figure it out, My Processor codes were wrong from the start of all this and therefor my tunes WIPED.

Road tested after leaving HP-F and the car felt PATHETIC.... no boost or timing down low,and very ordinary once into the revs.... Not pleased with travelling 700km's for this I tell ya!! :censored: :censored: :censored:

TUESDAY NIGHT: Take my ute to Headsex to let him work his magic.

First things first, Log the new 287kw HPF Tune... well surprise surprise!! All the specifics I had given HP-F were totally ignored and the tune was lacking LOTS and LOTS of work... this tune was sh*t and never to be used again. Not only that but I was charged AGAIN for these tuning specifics, even though I asked the year earlier and still didnt get them. NOT TO MENTION MY TUNED WERE WIPED!

A few hours later after some street tunes, the car felt 100% faster and totally refreshed! the idles were great, the startup and shutdowns were much cleaner, and the boost down low was impressive to say the least, its got a FAT midrange!!!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT:Off to Autotechnique to use Mario's Dyno to give Headsex's street tune the final touch-ups.

straight away once on the dyno we noticed from 5600rpm onwards the dyno chart had a big dip, it dropped about 20kw then raised back up again by 6000rpm. We thought "sh*t is this really valve float!?" which was strange cuz when driven on the street you couldnt feel anything at all, it pulled very hard until redline.

a few more runs were done to clean up the spark and fuel tables, the tune was pretty close but still had a noticably large dip up top.

I was ready to set a match to the car at this stage, nothing was going right, even though the new tune felt 100% over the tunes I received the day before!

I had to make a decision on what to do, so off to Nizpro the next day it was.

THURSDAY: Arrived at Nizpro 9am totally unanounced, explained my problem and within 2 mins the car was on the dyno. it was making 296kw but still with the aparent power drop at 5600-5700.

Nizpro Dave and Simon both chatted to me about it and they ruled out it wasnt the valve springs, but looked like a restriction, possibly the cat, and the injectors were not showing any signs of maxing out!

The car was taken elsewhere, and had the cat issue sorted out, And returned to Nizpro later that day.

Dave ran it up again and an instant 8kw gain, more torque throughout the range and boost came on ALOT harder.

Id like to throw a Very big thanks to Simon and Dave from Nizpro for fitting me in at such short notice, very very appreciated guys!! Youve got my trust anyday fellas. :beerchug:

THURSDAY NIGHT:Back to Headsex (Danny's) for a little more street tuning before we can get on a dyno again.

By the end of the night the car felt VERY quick. probably half a second on the 1/4 was gained by the ass-o-meter!!

Boost came on very early, VERY hard but maintained to hold the whole rev range. Boost is 15psi and Timing max of 16deg at 5500. AFR's are 12.7 down low to 11.9 up top, this was to be corrected on the dyno yet...

FRIDAY: Just stuffed around most of the day, tried to arrange a dyno but couldnt until saturday... oh well.

FRIDAY NIGHT: Off to Calder for the first time with Envy-T, Fats, Mr Man, Headsex and many more. Get half way there and it starts to rain, so we call and its CANCELLED!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I couldnt belive it!!! as 6 months before I travelled from mildura to heathcote to have a Run and that was rained out too!!!

just my luck... :tonguepoke:

SATURDAY: Off to SWIFT in dandenong for Danny to touch up and finalise my tunes.

After a few runs my AFR's were dead flat at .86-.87 all the way, the boost was consistant at 15psi and my timing no more than 17deg at 6000.

Now the bummer part, the dyno started to pack it in before power figures were really tried, but ass meter tells me its beaten anything the cars ever had before!

I cant criedit Danny enough, he done a great job tuning it and thanks to Fat-Tony for translating all the Edit bizzo in english to me. Together they made "Fat-Sex Tuning" or "Head-fat" lol....

The car feels exactly how I wanted it, how every tuned T should feel. Very happy Jan!!

I know its a long long ramble but im just trying to show others the difference that can be had with a QUALITY tuner. Dollars spent dont mean sh*t if you have a pack of peanuts tuning the complete package as these results have proven!!!

After speaking with Simon, Dave and Danny I definately know whos got their heads screwed on when it comes to these cars.

I had a run with a 300+kw BA Sedan !!!AUTO!!!! and my MANUAL kept side by side with it, I was mighty chuffed!! :spit:

Now I know this may seem like a Dig at certain Tuners, but please be aware its not. its merely my recollection of my results over the week and what results can be had from different tuning Methods... Some could learn from it and find it useful.

Thanks, Lolly.

PS- Big thanks to Marcus for the accomodation and laughs, your a cunny funt! Fat-Tony for contributing to marcus's mad antics and Danny for the great job. oh, cant wait to see that turbo on the XE!!

:tonguepoke:

Swift's dyno has always had that ghost in the system.. As peter said, last time it happened was when I used it last many months ago.. At least Alan murphy is getting out there and replacing the control box on the dyno now. 2 weeks!

As for that dip. I've only seen it on manual cars.. And, in a few weeks time when I get Theo's car on the dyno, I'll let ya know if what I'm thinking has fixed it.

either way, Fatz saw you do this at 90km/h :tonguepoke:

Danny.

A very well known and respected tuner said last week, that if Danny got himself a Dyno and tuned solid for 12 months, he would be NUMBER ONE in the country for XRT's.

A big statement, but he also said that problems that leave them stumped, Danny comes in and wahlah, problem solved.

I think I might approch him and fatz and get a business going, FATHEADS PERFORMANCE. I will do the DBOSS job, front of house bitch, and thge other 2 can do the fab and tuning work.

Hey well done Trough,

I had very similar issues with HP-F. Asked for "A" but got "B", asked for CDE and F and got G but nothing else. "Yep we've put that in slot 2." hmph,,,same as slot 1.

6 weeks to get one thing finally fixed. NO dyno sheets for weeks.

I went to Danny and he had it sorted in a couple of hours, plus pointed out the issues that shouldn't have been.

I have it all logged right here and when we finalise everything this weekend my post will be similarly long to yours.

Yup some tuners have no idea, I don't know where their information comes from as it conflicts with everything we hear, PLUS what makes it worse is when the dribble starts and you know it's been made up to make it confusing.

Mate, the stories are similar.

All I can say is well done on the new tunes and upgrades and the guys here are awesome......

Can't wait till Saturday....

:spit:

that's why I didn't go to 'X' tuner...

After going to the nizpro "learning session" I did say to simon ".. so it is hard to do a good job for $400"

He agreed.. and I think this proves it.

Glad its worked out mate! :tease:

edit: did they tell you your problem was from your AFR not being in the the tiny, perfect mixture band?? :spit:
